AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several more Central Texas cities will have high temperatures this afternoon at or slightly above 100°. Look for another mainly sunny sky with south winds 5 to 10 mph.

Most highs will continue in the upper 90s to around 100° through Friday.

A weak cold front is forecast into the area late in the week pushing a few showers and isolated thunderstorms in parts of the area Friday into the weekend. Rain chances are low.

A chance of more showers and isolated thunderstorms pops in Monday’s forecast. The Monday outlook depends on where Beryl will head when it moves into the Gulf during the weekend.

Hurricane Beryl is a Category 5 hurricane

Hurricane Beryl is breaking some hurricane records. The storm is the earliest Category 5 on record in the Atlantic Basin as.

Beryl became a Category 5 hurricane at 10 p.m. Monday. At 4 a.m. today maximum sustained winds are up to 165 mph. The hurricane was 695 miles ESE of Kingston, Jamaica moving WNW at 22 mph. Jamaica is under a Hurricane Warning.

The eventual path of Beryl will depend on the strength (or lack thereof) of high pressure due to shift to our east through the week.
