I chuckled too. After I read that joke, one popped into my head. It is in poor taste, since someone lost their life. I quickly had to pick up Our Daily Bread. :p :o

According to supacindy...

The dancers working on Beyonce's latest videos are being low-balled on their salaries in order to make the videos on the cheap. Sources are saying that the music diva is shooting several music videos in L.A. this week, which we're told she is financing, not her label.

Sources also say Beyonce's choreographer, Frank Gatson, has refused to work with any of the dancers' agents on this job. We're told that by eliminating the middleman and dealing directly with the dancers, Beyonce can pay them below standard wages.

Industry contacts say this practice is highly irregular for an artist of Beyonce's stature, and it undermines the dance industry as a whole. Insiders are saying that in order to maintain good working relationships, the production company for the project , RSA Films, has recently agreed to pay agency fees for some of the dancers. Usually, a dancer cast in an A-list artist's video can earn around $3000 for two rehearsal days and two shoot-days of work. Without agents fighting for their rights, the dancers on Beyonce's latest videos will earn less.

While some dancers have boycotted the high-profile gig, others, willing to go around their agents, have been flown to L.A. and put up at hotels to work for the lower rates -- just to say they danced for a megastar like Beyonce. Since music videos are not covered under union rules, Beyonce's camp is not violating regulations, but they are not in sync with Dancers' Alliance, an organization created by dancers to standardize non-union work.

Calls to Beyonce's reps were not returned. Frank Gatson's rep had no comment.

I can't be mad if she's financing it herself but I feel for the dancers too.

Reports have surfaced that the British bank that is paying $400 million to build a new arena for Jay-Z's New Jersey Nets was built on profits from the slave trade.

According to reports, Barclays Bank, which is shelling out $400 million over 20 years for naming rights for the Brooklyn arena, was founded by a family that profited from its ownership of slaves in the 18th century as well as being involved in controversial dealings with the South African government in the 1980s.

Hov, who made headlines last year by boycotting Cristal because of comments made by its managing director, has not responded to the controversial reports.

Okay but we live in a country BUILT on slave labor.

Tyrese has issued a statement about the alleged violent incident that took place between him and his live-in girlfriend at his Los Angeles home in earlier this month.

"I am a very private person but as untrue information is still circulating, I feel I owe it to my fans and supporters to finally address the rumors and put them to rest once and for all. Please be assured that accusations of an alleged physical altercation between my girlfriend and me are absolutely false. No charges were filed. I am grateful for the prayers and support I have received over the last several weeks from my fans and supporters and I want to thank them. God Bless."

Earlier this month, paramedics responded to Tyrese's home in response to an alleged altercation. No charges were filed.

He probably did do it as an outlet for his anger over poor album sales (on a side note, Tyrese: a leopard doesn't change it's spots--why are you rapping???)

It’s another public relations fiasco for Singer Brandy. Late last year, Brandy was involved in a car accident that killed a woman. There were no drugs or alcohol involved, but it was Brandy’s negligence. Apparently, she wasn’t paying attention when she was driving and that triggered the four car crash. Brandy was not arrested. She admitted the accident that killed a 38-year old woman was her fault. The California Highway Patrol feels Brandy should be arrested and charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. If convicted, she faces a year in jail and she would have to pay a $1,000 fine. Activists in California have leaped to Brandy’s defense claiming she is being used a political trophy. At press time, the family of the woman killed announced they are suing Brandy for $50 million. When the incident first happened, Brandy’s people should have come forward and revealed what happened. By letting the press reveal it weeks later, it looks like a cover-up. I’m sure this was just an accident, but Brandy has a history of lying. Remember her fake marriage a few years ago when she got pregnant. On the advice of her reps, Brandy lied about being married. She told this story to every media outlet that would listen, and it blew up in her face when her baby’s daddy admitted it was all a charade. Some sources say stories were leaked about her brother Ray J and a rumored romance with Whitney Houston to take the heat off of Brandy. What is Brandy going to do, and will she be arrested? Will this ruin her career? Will she get new spokespeople?

She is no longer chained to worry and strife because her man won’t come home. Juanita is already advising Tawanna Iverson, the young wife and mother of four to Superstar Allen Iverson. The Iversons recently moved to Denver, but the cheating has not stopped. The Iversons have been together for many years. In between, there have been many women, including Reality Star Hoopz and Nas’ baby momma, Carmen Bryan, who wrote a book claiming Iverson was the best lover she ever had. A couple of years ago, The Iversons made headlines when he reportedly threw her out their home while she was naked. Is a payday in store for Tawanna? Will she divorce Allen and get half? If Juanita Jordan has anything to do with it, a big payday will be coming to Tawanna because Juanita knows how to get the money from a cheating hubby.

The drama continues to unfold on the set of the ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy. The award-winning show has been under fire ever since cast member Isaiah Washington made a gay slur, and lied about it on TV. Washington has entered rehab for his anger management issues. He says he wants to transform his negative actions into positive ones. Show Creator Shonda Rhimes has been heavily criticized for how she handled this situation, but she says she is glad Isaiah is seeking help for his behavioral issues. Washington has had a rep for years for being a terror to work with, and it didn’t matter if you were gay, black, white or female…... he caused problems. Last year, he choked fellow castmember Patrick Dempsey and made the gay slur against another, Actor T.R. Knight. Word has it Knight wants to leave the show. Knight plays “Dr. George O’Malley,” and the incident forced him to come out of the closet. Knight is upset and disgusted about the events. When the incident happened in October. Knight was told to be quiet, but then Washington brought it all back up at the Golden Globe Awards, using the F word. Knight feels the set is toxic and unhealthy, and he wants out. At press time, Washington has returned to the Grey’s set.

This week’s Stand By Your Man Award goes to Kim Porter. Porter is the high profile baby mama of P Diddy. Seven weeks ago, she gave birth to twin girls, and last weekend, Diddy was caught with other women. He was filmed leaving the hotel of Actress Sienna Miller at five in the morning, and he was spotted participating in a mini-orgy with strippers. So where is Kim you ask? In the December issue of Essence magazine, Kim revealed that Diddy can do whatever he wants. He doesn’t want to marry her despite their three kids. Porter admits she’s not needy, as long as he makes her feel like they are a family. Porter is a well paid prop and a poor example for today’s young women. Every week, he is parading other women around while she stays at home with the kids. How much more will she take? Apparently, she is in there for the long haul. It is what it is! Diddy can do whatever he wants and humiliate her in any way. Just leave the money on the table!

Eddie’s last project, Norbit, opens in theatres on the 9th.

Spike Lee will be doing work for the NBC network after all. After passing on his idea for a show about New Orleans, he has been given the go ahead for a drama about average guy in New York who winds up becoming the mayor.

The VHI 1 reality show I Love New York continues to score high rating for the network. In the beginning, I was excited about the prospects for the show. I think New York and her mom, Sister Patterson, are hysterical, but the men leave much to be desired. The majority of them are suspect if you ask me, and it’s a total turnoff. Where are the real men?

Is Former American Idol Contestant Clay Aiken stripping for web cameras? Aiken’s die hard fans, The Claymates, claim an imposter is posing as Aiken and causing all the controversy. They feel he is being framed. In the meantime, men continue to come forward with tales of hooking with Aiken via the internet.

Beyonce has been Los Angeles filming a series of music videos. Beyonce is financing the project, and word has it she is low balling her dancers. A video dancer can usually get $3,000 for two rehearsal days and 2 work days, but the dancers who are working with Beyonce are not getting nearly this much money. A lot of well known dancers refuse to participate in the project. They want to be paid their worth, but others are going along with it so they can say they worked with a superstar.

Salli Richardson-Whitfield plays his wife.

Jennifer Hudson is the March cover girl for Essence magazine. The Oscar-nominated actress/singer has been looking fabulous lately thanks to the styling of Vogue Fashionista Andre Leon Talley. Hudson is working it, and everybody knows it. American Idol Judge Simon Cowell wants her to make a guest appearance on this season’s Idol. He says she should come back and gloat. He says he has always been one of her major supporters, as he reminds everyone it was the public that voted her off and not him.

How hot is Actress Gabrielle Union? How about very hot! Her new movie, Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls, opens in theatres on the 14th. Word has it she’s dating baseball hunk Derek Jeter. Union and Jeter have been spotted getting cozy with a little dirty dancing in New York. She also just signed a TV deal with ABC to star in the new drama Football Players Wives. Union will play one of the wives. This is not a far stretch for her. She used to be married to the NFL’s Chris Howard.

R Kelly is releasing a new album in May. Word has it he will continue telling the story of his Trapped in the Closet series.

Singer Smokey Robinson is blasting the movie Dreamgirls. Robinson feels the movie is very offensive in its portrayal of the Berry Gordy influenced character played by Jamie Foxx. Robinson says Gordy never resorted to payola to get records played. He says Motown made a statement all over the world that America could be proud of, and the movie distorts this. Jamie Foxx says he didn’t base his character on Berry Gordy. Foxx says he patterned it after record executives that he has worked with.

Whitney Houston is preparing for her comeback. She is in the process of getting a divorce from Bobby Brown. Whitney has requested a default judgment, and she is seeking custody of her daughter Bobbi Kristina. Bobby Brown would get visitation rights. He has been very quiet lately. I don’t think he is going to go away quietly though. As Whitney prepares to resume her music career, she is sticking close to her drug counselor, Warren Boyd. This is the same man who helped Rocker Courtney Love. Can Whitney do it? A lot of people are rooting for her because this would be one of the greatest comebacks in history. Despite the madness of her life, she is truly one of the greatest singers of this generation. She still has a long way to go. In addition to staying drug free, she has to make better choices in her romantic life. Now whether rumored boyfriend Ray J is a friend or a romance, Whitney does not need to be seen in public with him. In addition to the family drama involving his sister Brandy, Ray J is involved in a sex tape controversy. The sex tape features him and Socialite Kim Kardashian. The two of them are featured in various sex acts, and at one point, he urinates on her. This disgusting sex tape is going on the market, and it is going to make a lot of money for them. Kardashian is the best friend of Bigot Socialite Paris Hilton, and a sex tape is how Hilton became famous. As Whitney prepares for her comeback, she doesn’t need Ray J in her life. He is an opportunist. A wanna be thug-singer whose claim to fame will be that he peed on an ex-girlfriend.

Ray J’s sister Brandy got some good news this past week. Last week, it was announced she was getting sued for $50 million by the parents of the woman she accidentally killed in a car crash. Late last year, Brandy triggered a four car crash that killed a 38-year old woman. There were no drugs or alcohol involved. Brandy was just negligent. It was an accident. The woman’s parents immediately filed the lawsuit, but a judge is expected to rule that the parents have no right to file a lawsuit. Their daughter was married with two children. Her immediate family are the only ones who can file a wrongful death suit. Plus, the woman’s parents lived in Morocco, and they have not seen their daughter in 11 years. The daughter has lived in the United States since 1995. The husband of the young woman killed is looking at his options, assessing what Brandy is worth, and what was in her insurance policy. I doubt if Brandy will go to jail, but she will have to pay out something to the family of the young woman.

Word has it Actress Victoria Rowell is leaving the soap opera, The Young and The Restless. For the past 13 years, she has played the popular character “Drucilla.” Right now, she’s in involved in a silly storyline involving a murder. Hopefully, this will not ruin the history of the character. Her final day is scheduled for April 1st.

The new Gerald Levert CD, In My Songs, is coming out on the 13th. This is the album he was working on at the time of his death. In My Songs reveals how vulnerable Gerald was. He was 40-years old and a 22-year music vet, but did he miss being loved? Yes he had baby mamas and numerous girlfriends, but he never got married. Was he yearning for the true love of his life? I remember interviewing him and getting him to open up about Singer Kandi Burress. Burress was the Grammy award-winning songwriter who started out in the group Xscape. Gerald was crazy about her, but it didn’t work out. He expressed to me his disappointment about it not working out. I thought he was dating Soror Kym:confused:

Diana Ross’s latest album is not selling. The album is all love song covers. Ross is scheduled to appear on the Bravo TV show Inside The Actor’s Studio on February 19th. During the two hour special, she will talk about her movie career and such films as Lady Sings The Blues, Mahogany and The Wiz. Ross would like to do more TV, including The Oprah Winfrey Show. Years ago, Ross appeared on Oprah’s show to promote a tell-all book she wrote, but the problem was she didn’t tell all, including the true parentage of her first child Rhonda Ross. Rhonda’s dad is Motown Founder Berry Gordy, but Diana failed to mention it until the book came out. Oprah felt betrayed because she felt Diana should have been honest from the door instead of lying. Despite the fact that Oprah grew up idolizing Ross, she has vowed not to devote a whole show to the Diva.

Now speaking of Divas, is Oscar Nominee Jennifer Hudson becoming a Diva? Hudson graces the cover of the March edition of Essence magazine, and she talks about American Idol, where she got her start. Hudson claims the show was abusive. Hudson was a contestant the year that Fantasia won the competition. Her song choices and clothing were often criticized, and she was booted from the show. I think Hudson should get over the Idol thing. Accept your journey. Now Idol was a stepping stone for you, so there’s no need to keep bringing up how you lost the competition. Simon’s attacks made you stronger, and now look where you are (hopefully a couple weeks away from winning an Academy Award). Hudson also talks about Jennifer Holliday, the singer who originally played the role of “Effie White.” Holliday made the song And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going an instant classic. Before the movie came out, Jennifer expressed her disappointment about not having anything to do with the project. She felt she was being cast aside, and her legacy was being taken away from her. This has not been the case. Because of the movie, there has been a renewed interest in Holliday’s career. In the Essence interview, Hudson talks about the Holliday criticism. She basically said that Holliday should get over it and not let one song be the only song she sings (OUCH!). Hudson is going to have to get better coaching during interviews. Don’t let interviewers drag you into some nonsense. Speak respectfully of Holliday, move on and keep the spotlight on you. You don’t want to appear co*cky and arrogant. In this business, you can be hot for the moment and cold the next. Hudson looks amazing thanks to the fashion stylings of Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley. She will start recording her first album next month. If anyone saw Leno Monday, she clairfied the interview. And I am  at Jay for not having her sing!

Vivica A. Fox opens in the latest issue of Upscale magazine about her plastic surgery. Fox says if there are steps she has to take in order to look good, she will take them. She declares she loves the way she looks, and could care less what people think. She says when she looks in the mirror, she sees Vivica. Vivica is also featured in the latest issue of Smooth magazine, and she looks amazing. She’s in a bikini, and for a woman in her 40’s, she looks great. Vivica says her routine includes working out and drinking lots of water. Vivica recently suffered a fashion mishap in Miami. Her wig came off when she was getting out of a car. Her publicists insist it was a fur shawl, but bystanders say it was Viv’s wig. Why would you need a wig in Miami? :p

Mike Tyson is acting like the model patient in rehab. Tyson entered rehab for his drug problems, and workers say he has been on his best behavior. Tyson is trying to avoid a long jail sentence stemming from an incident last year when he ran into a sheriff’s vehicle with his car and admitted drug use.

Jill Scott and Tyler Perry? YES! Jill Scott will be starring in the next two Tyler Perry projects, ‘Jazzman” and ‘Why Did I Get Married.” She also has another new movie coming out this summer.

The latest Tyler Perry movie, Daddy’s Little Girls, opens in theatres on the 14th. The movie stars Gabrielle Union, Idris Elba, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Tracee Ellis Ross. Gabrielle Union says she loved working with Tyler on the movie. Union says life is good for her right now, even though she is not dating baseball star Derek Jeter. She says they are just friends. Idris Elba is best known for his work as “Stringer Bell” on the HBO series The Wire, but he is also a DJ. Yes Idris spins on the ones and two’s, and he has a compilation disc coming out later this year.

The NBA All Star game is taking place Sunday, February 18th at 8:00pm on TNT. Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton are scheduled to perform.

Now that Michael Jackson is setting up shop in Las Vegas, will he make amends with his family? According to published reports, Michael’s dad Joe Jackson was barred from seeing his son by the Nanny. Joe reportedly showed up in Vegas to see his son but, the Nanny, Grace Rwarmba, wouldn’t let him in. Papa Joe stood outside for three hours, but the Nanny wouldn’t budge. Nanny Grace rules Michael with an iron fist. She helps him raise his kids, and manage his life. When Michael wants to use the phone, he has to wait for Nanny Grace to leave the premises.

Queen Latifah’s long awaited HBO project, Life Support, debuts on HBO March 10th. The movie tells the story of black families dealing with AIDS. Latifah plays an HIV positive former drug user. Jamie Foxx co-stars.

The 21st Annual Soul Train Awards are set for March 10th. Beyonce leads the nominations with three. Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and John Legend all have two nominations each.

Mary J. Blige will be on the March cover of Vibe magazine. Blige agreed to the cover photo at the request of the new management of the magazine. The old management of Vibe humiliated Blige with a poorly taken photo that was released months ago. Blige blasted the editors of that issue for their cruelty. Word has it she is very happy with the latest March cover. :D :D

Chris Tucker is acting up on the set of Rush Hour III. Filming is underway in Los Angeles, and all the major characters are in place. Brett Ratner is directing and Jackie Chan is back as Tucker’s partner, but Tucker is not happy with the script. Apparently, when Chris is not happy, he locks himself in his trailer and refuses to come out. Tucker is getting paid $25 million for this movie, and it’s slated to be released later this year. I am sick of remakes. Does anyone really care about a Rush Hour III?

Protesters across the country are voicing their concerns about the latest Eddie Murphy movie Norbit. Murphy plays most of the major characters in the movie, including a very large, obese woman who is at the center of the controversy. The protestors feel Murphy is playing a character that is demeaning to African American women. A character that continues to perpetuate negative stereotypes about large black woman including being sexually aggressive, unattractive, violent and promiscuous. The protesters wonder why he would release this kind of movie during Black History Month. They feel he should apologize to the African American community. Norbit also stars Thandie Newton, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Eddie Griffin, Clifton Powell and Katt Williams.

Tyra Banks is definitely on a quest to become the younger version of Oprah Winfrey, but Tyra still has a long way to go. Oprah is known for treating her staff to lavish gifts like Hawaiian vacations, spending sprees and cars. Staffers on the set of The Tyra Banks Show were given thank you notes and ten dollar gift cards for their hard work. Maybe next year they’ll get a trip.

Courtney Vance and Angela Bassett are about to release their new book about their love and relationship. Friends: A Love Story is out in stores, and it’s the amazing story about their romance. Vance and Bassett have been married for ten years. They write about waiting until they were married before they had sex, and the years they spent trying to have a child. Last year, a surrogate gave birth to twins for the couple. The babies are now a year old.

Rocker Bono is getting honored at this year’s NAACP Image Awards. The front man for the Rock Band U2 will be receiving The Chairman’s Award for his humanitarian efforts involving AIDS in Africa. The awards show is set for Friday, March 2nd on Fox. Bill Cosby and CNN’s Soledad O’Brien are also being honored. Rapper/Actor LL Cool J will be hosting.

The 49th Annual Grammy Awards air this Sunday, February 11th on CBS. Beyonce is one of the scheduled performers. Mary J. Blige is up for eight awards.

Gospel Music’s biggest night, The 2007 Stellar Awards, is set to air February 18th on Channel 17 at 4pm.

The concert scene is heating up. Check out http://2downfront.com/Calendar.htm for upcoming events

Jennifer Hudson sang last time she was on Jay Leno. I thought she handled the interview this week tastefully. Hopefully, interviewers have just been twisting her words and she's not really that arrogant and out of it.

I don't really get the plot of the new Eddie Murphy movie either. Maybe there's some redeeming quality to it if you actually see it. The commercials just look stupid though.

Thanks. That's what I get for watching Jay Leno once or twice a week. And as a former journalism, you know they are trying to twist words to get more papers/magazines sold.

If you have HBO or HBO on Demand (that's why I love Comcast), check out the 15 minute snippet about the movie. It makes a lot more sense, and it looks hilarious! One thing Eddie Murphy says about the movie is that people were asking him for an edgier comedy, and he wanted to make an edgier comedy, and "Norbit" is it. I think I'll be seeing that this weekend. :)

That poor baby. :(

If she did die from some type of drug overdose, i don't think it was on purpose. She was dealing with A LOT of major stress right now - the death of her son, probably going through postpartum depression, and dealing with 2 ongoing lawsuits (one concerning the paternity of her baby and the other one dealing with the estate of her late husband). She may have just over medicated herself in trying to cope with everything.

Nope. They just had a paternity hearing yesterday ordering Anna Nicole to submit the baby for paternity testing by February 21. It's so sad and tragic. I really hope that woman didn't kill herself. I do believe that woman could take all she could handle with life. I feel so sorry for Dannilynn. Anna Nicole...there will never be another one like her. RIP.

Am I the only one kinda  about the whole Anna Nicole thing in the media? Day before yesterday they all had not one good thing to say about the woman and what a trainwreck she was. THey mocked her relentlessly, as did most folks (think back- you can't tell me you never said something about what a dip the woman was).

Now all of a sudden, it's like everyone is so shocked and appalled by her death. I mean, come on! I'm not saying it's not a shame that she died, I'm just saying that we all saw this one coming. Instead of taking her clear drug dependency issues seriously, she was televised and ridiculed. I don't get all the "grief" over her passing in the news, I really don't.

However, I guess I understand that there is alot of money at stake. But my goodness. It's awful for them to give so much press and so expressly talking about how many men it could be and interviewing the men. It's like a crazy circus.

I'm not surprised. She helped to put her reputation out there like that. I would never say that her son was her child's father, but I am certain that Stern is not. If the other dude wasn't and there was NO possibility, she would have been rushing to have Dannilynn tested so that she could crack ol' boy's face! Now, Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband is stepping up for his slice of the pie.

I was shocked and caught off guard by her death because I was JUST talking about her being sued for that TrimSpa mess. Next day or two, she was dead. I was shocked because my mind went to suicide. Next, I figured that the TrimSpa killed her. Those damn diet pills aren't safe. I found it ironic, being a law student, that she was being sued and would have to defend against something that killed her before her day in court. Wish I was on the case so I could get a cut of the settlement.... Also, by the end of the night, my Soror/schoolmate and I were trying to hatch a scheme to open succession and get in on the $400M still hanging out there. OK, enough of thinking like a lawyer.

I just feel sorry for the baby. Of course none of us know Anna Nicole personally, but when you live fast, you die young. We all know that she's been powdering her nose for a long time. Coroner: Gerald Levert Died From Combination Of Medications

POSTED: 4:33 pm EST February 9, 2007

<http://www.newsnet5.com/news/10975021/detail.html>

CLEVELAND -- The Geauga County coroner said Friday that local R&B star
Gerald Levert's death was a result of a terrible accident.

The coroner confirmed to NewsChannel5 that Levert's death was caused by a
combination of over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

Levert's death has now officially been ruled an accident. In a seven-page
report released to NewsChannel5, the coroner said that a deadly mixture of
drugs was found in his system.

The coroner said the drugs included powerful painkillers such as Vicodin and
Percocet, and the antidepressants Valium and Xanax were also present in his
bloodstream.

Coroner Kevin Chartran said that Levert was also suffering from pneumonia at
the time of his death in November, which was why Levert was also taking
antihistamines.

Chartran said the combination of six different drugs proved to be fatal.

"It's not clear when these were taken. We're not sure if they were taken all
at once or over the course of a day. But the levels were high enough and
there was acute intoxication, which likely stopped him from breathing,"
Chartran said.

The autopsy was conducted by the Cuyahoga County coroner's office, but
because Levert died at his Geauga County home it was up to the Geauga County
coroner to issue the report.

Levert was 40 years old.

Levert's family released the following statement regarding the coroner's
report:

"Gerald had several health issues including recovering from a severed
Achilles tendon and lingering shoulder pain, among other things, that
required him to take prescribed pain medications. We had no idea that this
would be the cause of his death. Unfortunately, we can't turn back the hands
of time, for if we could, he may still be with us today. We accept what has
been reported and thank all of Gerald's family, friends and fans for their
continual outpouring of love for our loss."

Heck, since everyone is saying that they are the father, I was going to hold my own press conference and add my two cents. I feel sorry for the baby and everyone involved because that baby gets that $400 million and I truly believe that nowone has the baby's interest at heart. It's just a crazy now. Then for Za Za Gabor's (sp?) husband to come out and say he may be the father with his old self. I could not believe it. Now, when Bob Barker calls a press conference and announces that he may be the father, I'm calling Maury to get this stuff together....what is taking so long for the DNA test?

Coroner: Gerald Levert Died From Combination Of Medications

POSTED: 4:33 pm EST February 9, 2007

Since when was vicodin and percecet over the counter?

I was reading this earlier and wondering what MD would prescribe all of those medications together.
I doubt that they were prescribed together. He may have had a bunch of meds sitting around from various other times and was popping pills without waiting for a requisite amount of time to pass before taking something else.

I know that I'm guilty of it. Of course not with anything as potent as those pills, but I know that I've popped lots of aspirin to rid myself of a headache. When it doesn't work as fast as I would hope, I may pop more pills of the same or another brand just to make my head stop from banging, whether the 4 or 6 (or however many) hours have passed. I think I'm scared straight now.

Since when was vicodin and percecet over the counter?

The article states that he had a combination of those prescribed meds, as well as over-the-counter meds.

The over the counter drugs were for his pneumonia.

Jacci Reid reported this morning on TJMS that he had an achilles tendon (sp) injury and was prescribed the Vicoden, Percocet, and another painkiller starting with a "D". He had surgery last year or so and suffered with chronic pain from that and his shoulder. So, as long as he had pain, he got perscriptions from doctor(s). Then, as his body depended on the drugs and got accustomed to them, the dosage had to be increased. She said, per her interview with a doctor, that all of those medications lead to his nervous system shutting down, thus causing him to stop breathing.

I'm guilty of popping tylenol sinus, anydrug sinus, alka seltzer cold plus, and drug that will give me relieve when I have colds. I will pay more attention to what I "pop" or sip for now on.

It's thought that this same thing may have happened to ANS.

And I'm glad that they didn't appear to Photoshop her into something ridiculous. I have several reactions to this. First off, Andre Leon Talley must have SOMETHING on Anna Wintour to make this happen.

But also, J. Hud being AfAm helps. Larger women are much more acceptable in our community than in the wider one.
I can't think of any average-sized/curvy/thick leading ladies, up-front stars that are white. You have white larger celebrities, but they are generally character actresses (Kathy Bates, Camryn Manheim, Marisa Jaret Winokur) or comedic performers with poor style reps (Rosie O'Donnell, Roseanne Barr, Kirstie Alley). Liv Tyler and Kate Winslet don't count.

Just as an FYI Sorors, my husband's line brother's brother (I know long trail) collapsed and was in a coma and experienced kidney failure because he took cold medicine (I think Theraflu) and ran in a marathon. Not sure what caused it and thank God he is alive, but just keep that in mind when we are taking all of these meds.

Love Alive

I flew to Miami recently to see David E. Talbert's 12th touring production, 'Love in the Nick of Tyme,' which played the James L. Knight Center. The show stars Morris Chestnut, singer Terry Dexter, R&B crooner Avant, 'American Idol' finalist Trenyce and actress Ellia English ('The Jamie Foxx Show'), among others, and features all new music written by Vivian Green.

Talbert, who has earned 24 NAACP Image Award nominations for his 11 plays, is returning to his first love after writing several bestselling books ('Baggage Claim,' 'Love on the Dotted Line,' and Love Don't Live Here No More' with Snoop Dogg); a television special ('Unpredictable: A Musical Journey') and recording several of his other plays for DVD.

But the return to the road has been fulfilling for Talbert, who had got quite comfortable living in Hollywood. "It's the best thing ever! I forgot how much I loved coming out on stage. Because you know I am a frustrated preacher and a standup comedian as well? So you give me a microphone and an audience and it's hard to get me off stage! Now it's going to be hard to get me back off the road," Talbert told me.

For Chestnut-who has starred in films like 'Two Can Play That Game,' 'The Brothers,' and 'The Best Man'-this is his first time on the road in a touring play. "It's definitely different. It's much more of a grind than I thought it would be, but I've welcomed the challenge. People had been approaching me for years to do one, but I never wanted to do one. Then David came to me and I just felt like it was the right time, the right script and he was the right person for me to do one with," shared the happily married father of two.

The 38-year-old actor believes that the reason so many of his Hollywood peers are taking to life on the road, is a combination of the limited work for African-American actors in the business and the direct connection to the consumer. "I think it's an opportunity for to give your fans an opportunity to see you up-close and personal. I think it offers you a chance to hone your skills and be able to work regularly. Some of us, knock on wood, like myself have been able to work regularly, but there's not really a lot of jobs out there. So it gives an opportunity to keep perfecting our craft and to get better because we call can get better," added Chestnut.

Legend has it that Chestnut signed on for 'Love in the Nick of Tyme' after losing a card game to Talbert at a party. Both have a different recollection of the tale.

"I don't know who told you that lie," Chestnut said laughing. "David Talbert couldn't beat me in spades if his life depended on it!"

But the director/producer sees things differently. "Well you see, the thing about actors is that they're delusional because they're used to going in to character. But if you get him out of character he'll tell you the truth. I am the spades champion. See, I'm east coast and he's west coast, so if it was dominos, he would have won," he offered.

Nonetheless, 'Love in the Nick of Tyme' currently has dates scheduled through late May in cities including Baltimore, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Talbert is certain this is the one production of his that you don't want to miss. "Its my most magical production ever," he closed.

BET's 'Celebration of Gospel' made its mark in the television ratings history books. The annual gospel television broadcast landed 2.5 million viewers when it premiered on Jan. 28, making it the number one Religious/Gospel Program in television history; the highest rated weekend telecast in BET history; and among the Top 25 of all BET broadcasts ever. Yours truly attended the show and I promise you that what you see on television is nothing compared to what you experience live. BET edits the hell out of the near-four hour taping, sometimes opting to loose some of the finer moments and dwelling on not-so-stellar ones. For example, most in attendance felt as though one of the four highlights during the show was definitely the performance of "Endow Me" by co*ko and featuring Fantasia, Lil Mo and Kierra "KiKi" Sheard. But the way the seven minute-plus performance was cut down, you would have never thought it was co*ko's song. That's just one example! (Though I thought just about everyone was good, my other highlights included Ty Tribbett, The Caravans and Kelly Price.) And don't get me wrong, I think this year's 'Celebration of Gospel' was fantastic and most of what you see on television mirrors the live experience, but some of the choices made just make you scratch your head. One more thing, and let me be clear that this is in no way a personal dis to anyone, but there are plenty of talented musicians with musical director experience who have church sensibilities and would be perfect for this show. Translation: BET should hire someone who doesn't have to read gospel from sheet music and already knows the songs! (BET, I have the telephone numbers of Joe Wilson, Donald Lawrence, Warryn Campbell, Brent Jones and several others who fit the bill.) Furthermore, shouting music should not sound like the theme music from the circus.

I have a new level of respect for Usher. Despite criticism from myself and other media outlets when he initially hooked up with the then-married with children former stylist Tameka Foster and snuck off on a romantic vacation to St. Bart's with her, I have to say that its admirable that he's actually gone public with their romance. Most were calling Usher a home wrecker and clearly that seemed to be the case then, but Foster is now divorced and the two seem madly in love. (If it works for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, why shouldn't it work for them?) I've known that Foster was quietly in the picture long before those beachfront pictures of them surfaced more than a year ago. It was her and not the model, Eishia Brightwell that actually took the infamous subway ride with the singer in New York City. (I worked on this story for the New York Daily News in July 2004). But the two aren't taking the train anymore, but instead walking the red carpet at events like the recent Trumpet Awards and at Tao Las Vegas' New Year's Eve celebration.

Can someone please tell Smokey Robinson that 'Dreamgirls' is not a documentary! The film is "loosely based" on The Supremes and the Motown experience and if he had the gripes that he shared on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" show and then on 'Access Hollywood,' then why didn't he take that up 25 years ago when 'Dreamgirls' was on Broadway? See details on Robinson's rant in my colleague Karu F. Daniels' BV Newswire Blog.

Buzzworthy

This whole Brandy Norwood car accident situation has been something else! You can read the details in BV Newswire Blog. I'm glad the former 'Moesha' star and 'America's Got Talent' judge is trying to get a handle on things by hiring the crisis publicist Allan Mayer of 42 West, who also is helping 'Grey's Anatomy' star Isaiah Washington rebuild his image. 'Page Six' of the New York Post broke news last week that she terminated her other publicist Courtney Barnes.

Comics Alex Thomas, Pierre, Rodney Perry and Shang star in an upcoming comedy film, 'Cut' N' Up.' The movie, described as a cross between 'Kings of Comedy' and 'Barbershop,' is being produced by Cecil Chambers and directed by Mark Harris.

Sources say that an R&B singer, who has made recent forays in to inspirational music, was thrown out of a Kansas City hotel for smoking marijuana in his room. While an entertainer smoking weed isn't shocking to most, the fact that said singer has focused his recent endeavors on performing gospel dates-he was performing at a church the night he got the boot-could raise some eyebrows in the Christian community.

His Own Words

I like Ne-Yo! Why? Because he's the real deal! See, most artists are like Play-Doh. They've been molded into the image that you see and say the things some publicist or record label executive have coached them to say. But that's not the case at all with this quadruple threat.

I caught up with the singer songwriter/producer/actor recently at The W Hotel in Westwood, Calif. and during our frank chat, the Las Vegas-bred entertainer talked openly about any and everything I wanted to. Last fall, there were some photos that were taken by Ne-Yo showing one of his dancers performing oral sex on him that surfaced online. I asked Ne-Yo had he tired of all the questions about the pictures. "No," he replied.

"Well what's the real story behind the photos," I asked. Without blinking he shot back: "I was just having fun one day. Someone did something childish and broke into my damn sidekick. It happens. It comes with the territory."

The singer, who also stars in the #1 box office smash 'Stomp The Yard,' said that a man actually attempted to extort money for the pictures. "Somebody was trying to actually get some money for them pictures, can you believe that? The dude that stole the pictures was like, 'Give me x-amount of dollars or I am going public with these pictures.' So I am thinking to myself, okay if I send this dude this money, what guarantees me he aint going to go public with these pictures anyway. So I hit him with the f-bomb via sidekick and I kept it moving. The pictures came out; it was what it was and its whatever. I'm grown, I don't care," he explained.

Before his debut album "In My Own Words" sold 1.5 million copies and he was co-headlining tours with Omarion, Ne-Yo sang in an R&B group called Envy with troubled 'American Idol' finalist Corey Clark. Ne-Yo said it's been some time since he's communicated with his former group member. "Haven't talked to Corey in a really long time. Corey, man, what to say about Corey? Talented cat, he really, really is. He has some personal issues that he has to deal with, within himself. And when he does, if he does, I think that he could possibly come back from the drama that became his life behind the whole Paula Adbul thing," shared the singer.

Now that he has his own thriving production company, would Ne-Yo consider signing Clark to his own roster? "Not until he worked out his personal issues," he said emphatically.

In addition to his work as singer and now an actor, Ne-Yo has struck gold (and often platinum) by penning songs for the likes of Mario ("Let Me Love You"), Rihanna ("Unfaithful"), Heather Headley ("The Letter") and Marques Houston ("All Because of You"). Clearly, his song "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce saved her 'B'Day' album from being a total failure! If that's not impressive enough, Ne-Yo will next write on upcoming albums by Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Britney Spears. Expect a sophom*ore album from Ne-Yo later this year.

Frankly Speaking

"Do you know that I'm not even allowed to go to The Grove for a year? We've all been banned! But, whatever. Dorsey, and her unnamed ex-boyfriend at the Los Angeles shopping center The Grove in the Feb. '07 issue of Essence.

Everyone is talking about the Ray J and Kim Kardashian sex tape. You've been flooding my e-mail box with questions regarding it. I broke news last Wednesday on the 'Tom Joyner Morning Show' that Vivid Entertainment had acquired the tape for $1 million after being tipped off the day before. I'm not weighing in on what I think will happen to either of their careers, cause clearly only one of them really has one. Nonetheless, I will say this…Ray J may have realized that he'll likely never win a Grammy, Emmy and certainly not an Oscar, but his chances of landing an AVN Award-the highest honor in the p*rn industry-are likely very good!

I recently attended the live concert recording of the gospel quartet, The Soul Seekers. The music collective-made up by Teddy Campbell; Warryn Campbell; John "Jubu" Smith; Gerald Haddon; Charlie Bereal; Eric Seats, Craig Brockman and founder, Nisan Stewart-recorded their sophom*ore CD at the packed-to-rafters Love & Unity COGIC Church in Compton, Calif. Among those in attendance included Musiq, Mary Mary, Deitrick & Damita Haddon, co*ko of SWV, comic Jonathan Slocumb, Kierra "KiKi" Sheard, producer Rodnie Jerkins, Marvin "Coconut" Winans Jr., Ty Tribbett, Daryl Coley, Nysa Shenay, singer/producer Eric Dawkins, Dr. Bobby Jones, newcomer Onitsha, musician/producer Derek Lee, Fred Hammond, comic Broderick Rice, Fonzworth Bentley, actress Faune Chambers ('White Chicks'), singer Yvette Williams, George Huff, Marvin Winans and a host of gospel music executives and radio talent. While the entire session featured a solid collection of modern quartet music, one of the highlights for me included group member Warryn Campbell's song "Trust In Me." In addition, Marvin Winans duet with The Soul Seeker's lead singer Teddy Campbell was an additional standout. Expect The Soul Seekers follow-up to their 2005's self-titled album to drop before the year's end.

Apparently students at the Bronx Community College think their classmate looks a lot like the guy who played Lionel on "The Jeffersons." Well it is! The actor Damon Evans, who also played young Alex Haley in 'Roots II: The Next Generation,' is studying psychology and teaching there.

Golden Globe winner and Oscar frontrunner Jennifer Hudson graces the March issue of Essence magazine, but Hudson told Jay Leno during an interview on NBC's 'The Tonight Show' that her words were taken out of context. The Essence cover story made headlines because of a press release that promoted the issue with a quote from Hudson that said: "You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think." But the 'Dreamgirls' star told Leno, "Sometimes people take what you say a whole other way!" I detailed during my 'Tom Joyner Morning Show Report.' In other Hudson magazine news, she'll appear on the cover of Vogue magazine's March issue. This news has sent the media world into shock. Karu F. Daniels has the scoop in his BV Newswire Blog.

I can tell you that I was  when I heard about Morris Chestnut being in this play. It's coming to San Diego, BTW. But he's right -- you have to get work any way you can, and if touring plays bring in money, so be it.

Can't Say Names…

Sources say that an R&B singer, who has made recent forays in to inspirational music, was thrown out of a Kansas City hotel for smoking marijuana in his room. While an entertainer smoking weed isn't shocking to most, the fact that said singer has focused his recent endeavors on performing gospel dates-he was performing at a church the night he got the boot-could raise some eyebrows in the Christian community.

I heard an interview on the local radio station with Robyn Thicke and he stated that he and Paula have actually been together for about 10 years but only married for 2. He has actually been writing for tons of people but decided that after that first album that he put out a few years ago to try it again since the people that he has written for are hot. I can't remember the list of people right now, but he has written songs for a lot of people, he felt that he needed to do it for himself and see what would happen.

The son of Growing Pains TV dad Alan Thicke and soap actress and singer Gloria Loring, Thicke has been creating his distinct brand of slick neo-soul for years, penning tracks for the likes of Usher, Christina Aguilera, Mya, Brandy, Marc Anthony and others.

I also heard an interview with him where he said he wrote a song for Michael Jackson years ago.

Even if Beyonce isn't hating on Jennifer, she's got to feel kind of funny about it. It's only human. Even if she wishes her well, Beyonce is getting her first taste of declining popularity. Everyone has their moment, and her moment is just about up. It happens to the best of them, and she's no different. Yes she will continue to make music, and movies or whatever, but I think she's reached her pinnacle. It's time for someone else to shine. It just so happens to be Jennifer Hudson, her co-star and first time actress.

It is kind of blatant though. I mean Jennifer is EVERYWHERE. It's in Beyonce's face all of the time. Damn, what a way to go.

Rapper Foxy Brown was arrested and charged with battery in Pembroke Pines, South Florida yesterday (Feb. 15), after a disturbance broke out in a beauty supply store.

According to police, the Brooklyn bred rapper became involved in a disturbance at the Queen Beauty Supply Store last night.Police said that Brown was sampling beauty products in a bathroom of the shop, when a store employee told her it was closing time.

According to reports, Brown became irate and threw hair glue at the employee, a man named Hayssamn Ghoneim. Ghoneim called 911 during the fracas, when Brown allegedly spit on him. When an officer responded to the 911 call and found Brown still in the shopping plaza, he attempted to bring her back to the store to address the issue, but Brown allegedly refused.

According to the police report, when the officer attempted physically escort back to the store Brown by placing his hand on her arm, she allegedly swatted his hand away and resisted.

The officer said Brown resisted so much, he had to "use a takedown maneuver to gain control" of the rapper [I wish I was there to see - - Fresh]. Brown, born Inga Marchand, was charged with battery and obstruction of justice. She is currently being held on $1,500 bond at the Sheriff's North Jail in Pompano Beach. (source)

JHud has...the Barbara Walters Special  :WEVA

LOL, soror! But, J-Hud's appearance on Bobwah's show could be a good luck charm of sorts (not as if she needs it though). In recent years, every Oscar nominee who has appeared on that special has gone on to win (i.e. Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Jaime Foxx, George Clooney, etc.). It can't hurt; girlfriend sure is doin' her thang! :D

Mississippi Has Warrant For Cup-Throwing Woman

POSTED: 11:17 am EST February 18, 2007
UPDATED: 6:15 pm EST February 21, 2007

STAFFORD, Va. -- A woman set for release after her conviction for throwing a cup of ice into another car in Stafford County will have to stay in jail until an outstanding warrant in Mississippi is cleared, News4's Chris Gordon reported.

Authorities learned about the outstanding warrant on charges of writing bad checks on Wednesday after a judge told 25-year-old Jessica Hall of Jacksonville, N.C., that the two months she has been in jail is enough. The judge told her she would be on probation and not have to serve a recommended two-year sentence, said Gordon, who was in the courtroom.

Sorority Evictions Raise Issue of Bias
By SAM DILLON
The New York Times
(Feb. 24) - When a psychology professor at DePauw University here surveyed students, they described one sorority as a group of "daddy's little princesses" and another as "offbeat hippies." The sisters of Delta Zeta were seen as "socially awkward."

Worried that a negative stereotype of the sorority was contributing to a decline in membership that had left its Greek-columned house here half empty, Delta Zeta's national officers interviewed 35 DePauw members in November, quizzing them about their dedication to recruitment. They judged 23 of the women insufficiently committed and later told them to vacate the sorority house.

The 23 members included every woman who was overweight. They also included the only black, Korean and Vietnamese members. The dozen students allowed to stay were slender and popular with fraternity men -- conventionally pretty women the sorority hoped could attract new recruits. Six of the 12 were so infuriated they quit.

"Virtually everyone who didn't fit a certain sorority member archetype was told to leave," said Kate Holloway, a senior who withdrew from the chapter during its reorganization.

"I sensed the disrespect with which this was to be carried out and got fed up," Ms. Holloway added. "I didn't have room in my life for these women to come in and tell my sisters of three years that they weren't needed."

Ms. Holloway is not the only angry one. The reorganization has left a messy aftermath of recrimination and tears on this rural campus of 2,400 students, 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

The mass eviction battered the self-esteem of many of the former sorority members, and some withdrew from classes in depression. There have been student protests, outraged letters from alumni and parents, and a faculty petition calling the sorority's action unethical.

DePauw's president, Robert G. Bottoms, issued a two-page letter of reprimand to the sorority. In an interview in his office, Dr. Bottoms said he had been stunned by the sorority's insensitivity.

"I had no hint they were going to disrupt the chapter with a membership reduction of this proportion in the middle of the year," he said. "It's been very upsetting."

The president of Delta Zeta, which has its headquarters in Oxford, Ohio, and its other national officers declined to be interviewed. Responding by e-mail to questions, Cynthia Winslow Menges, the executive director, said the sorority had not evicted the 23 women, even though the national officers sent those women form letters that said: "The membership review team has recommended you for alumna status. Chapter members receiving alumnae status should plan to relocate from the chapter house no later than Jan. 29, 2007."

Ms. Menges asserted that the women themselves had, in effect, made their own decisions to leave by demonstrating a lack of commitment to meet recruitment goals. The sorority paid each woman who left $300 to cover the difference between sorority and campus housing.

The sorority "is saddened that the isolated incident at DePauw has been mischaracterized," Ms. Menges wrote.

This is not the first time that the DePauw chapter of Delta Zeta has stirred controversy. In 1982, it attracted national attention when a black student was not allowed to join, provoking accusations of racial discrimination.

Earlier this month, an Alabama lawyer and several other DePauw alumni who graduated in 1970 described in a letter to The DePauw, the student newspaper, how Delta Zeta's national leadership had tried unsuccessfully to block a young woman with a black father and a white mother from joining its DePauw chapter in 1967.

Despite those incidents, the chapter appears to have been home to a diverse community over the years, partly because it has attracted brainy women, including many science and math majors, as well as talented disabled women, without focusing as exclusively as some sororities on potential recruits' sex appeal, former sorority members said.

"I had a sister I could go to a bar with if I had boy problems," said Erin Swisshelm, a junior biochemistry major who withdrew from the sorority in October. "I had a sister I could talk about religion with. I had a sister I could be nerdy about science with. That's why I liked Delta Zeta, because I had all these amazing women around me."

But over the years DePauw students had attached a negative stereotype to the chapter, as evidenced by the survey that Pam Propsom, a psychology professor, conducts each year in her class.

That image had hurt recruitment, and the national officers had repeatedly warned the chapter that unless its membership increased, the chapter could close.

At the start of the fall term the national office was especially determined to raise recruitment because 2009 is the 100th anniversary of the DePauw chapter's founding. In September, Ms. Menges and Kathi Heatherly, a national vice president of the sorority, visited the chapter to announce a reorganization plan they said would include an interview with each woman about her commitment. The women were urged to look their best for the interviews.

The tone left four women so unsettled that they withdrew from the chapter almost immediately.

Robin Lamkin, a junior who is an editor at The DePauw and was one of the 23 women evicted from the house, said many of her sisters bought new outfits and modeled them for each other before the interviews. Many women declared their willingness to recruit diligently, Ms. Lamkin said.

They asked most members to stay upstairs in their rooms. To welcome freshmen downstairs, they assembled a meet-and-greet team that included several of the women eventually asked to stay in the sorority, along with some slender women invited from the sorority's chapter at Indiana University, Ms. Holloway said.

"They had these unassuming freshman girls downstairs with these plastic women from Indiana University, and 25 of my sisters hiding upstairs," she said. "It was so fake, so completely dehumanized. I said, 'This calls for a little joke.' "

Ms. Holloway put on a wig and some John Lennon rose-colored glasses, burst through the front door during the recruitment event, and skipped around singing "Ooooh! Delta Zeta!" and other chants.

The face of one of the national representatives, she recalled, "was like I'd run over her puppy with my car."

The national representatives announced their decisions in the form letters, delivered on Dec. 2, which said that Delta Zeta intended to increase membership to 95 by the 2009 anniversary, and that it would recruit using a "core group of women."

Elizabeth Haneline, a senior a computer science major who was among those evicted, returned to the house from campus that afternoon and found some women in tears. Even the chapter's very active president had been kicked out, Ms. Haneline said, while "other women who had done almost nothing for the chapter were asked to stay."

Ms. Swisshelm said she overheard one woman seek to reassure a friend: "I think you're plenty pretty, no matter what nationals say," the woman said.

Six of the 12 women who were asked to stay left the sorority, including Joanna Kieschnick, a sophom*ore majoring in English literature. "They said, 'You're not good enough' to so many people who have put their heart and soul into this chapter that I can't stay," she said.

Ms. Haneline, who found articles about Delta Zeta in the DePauw library about past episodes of discrimination, said, "The Greek system hasn't changed at all, but instead of racism, it's image now."

In the months since, Cynthia Babington, DePauw's dean of students, has fielded angry calls from parents, she said. Robert Hershberger, chairman of the modern languages department, circulated the faculty petition; 55 professors signed it.

"We were especially troubled that the women they expelled were less about image and more about academic achievement and social service," Dr. Hershberger said.

During rush activities this month, 11 first-year students accepted invitations to join Delta Zeta, but only three have since sought membership.

On Feb. 2, Rachel Pappas, a junior who is the chapter's former secretary, printed 200 posters calling on students to gather that afternoon at the student union. About 50 students showed up and heard Ms. Pappas say the sorority's national leaders had misrepresented the truth when they asserted they had evicted women for lack of commitment.

"The injustice of the lies," she said, "is contemptible."

You Know Those Hollywood Types....Getting Married after Dating 3 WEEKS....

Nick Cannon’s (Victoria’s) Secret Wedding!

Thursday February 22, 2007

Usmagazine.com has learned exclusively that Nick Cannon, 26, married Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks, 24, in Las Vegas last weekend. Sources say the altar-rushers were staying at the Palms Casino Resort Hotel and enjoying NBA All-Star Weekend when they decided to wed on a whim after just three weeks of dating.

The couple began dating after meeting at Super Bowl weekend in Miami. Says the source, "The weird thing is when he and Kim [Kardashian] dated, he said he didn't believe in monogamy!" The singer and actor split from Kardashian in January.

Cannon and Ebanks are planning to hold a wedding reception party in L.A. this weekend, pals say.

When contacted by Usmagazine.com, Cannon's publicist, Tracy Nguyen, declined to comment.

Patty Jackson's 411 Celebrity Report for 02.19.07

www.wdasfm.com

Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of February 19th, 2007

Vivica A. Fox is coming to Philly! Fox will be in town filming the movie Cover. Cover will be directed by Bill Duke, and it will deal with the issue of down low men, straight men who have sex with other men. Mya and Loretta Devine co-star, and Patti LaBelle has been added to the cast as the head of the church choir. Actress/Singer Sheryl Lee Ralph is also rumored to be joining the cast. If you see Vivica, make her feel welcome in the city of brotherly love. In other Vivica news, what do you do when your best friend and your husband can’t get along? If you’re Star Jones Reynolds and your best friend is Vivica A. Fox, you side with your husband. Over the weekend, Vivica and Star’s husband, Al Reynolds, had an exchange of words. At one point things got so heated, Star grabbed her husband and left the party. Vivica tried to soothe things over and apologize, but Star wasn’t hearing it.

Hot Couples Alert:

Former NBA Star Rick Fox and Sex and the City Star Kristin Davis! Davis played “Charlotte” on the popular HBO series, and Fox used to be married to Vanessa Williams. Now speaking of Vanessa Williams, she’s going to be nude again. In 1984, Vanessa lost her crown as Miss America when nude photos of her performing sex acts on a woman were published in Penthouse magazine. Today, Williams is on a roll with her hit show Ugly Betty, and she will be posing nude in the May edition of Allure magazine. It’s their look better naked issue.

Chris Tucker and India Arie?! Tucker is currently working on the movie Rush Hour III, but he has been spending a lot of time with Arie. The two have been dating since late last year. Arie used to date Singer Musiq Soulchild, and Tucker used to be married. Maybe he still is.

One man who is married is Actor Boris Kodjoe, and over the weekend, he spent a lot of time with Gabrielle Union at the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in Las Vegas. Kodjoe is married to Actress Nicole Ari Parker. She was nowhere to be found. She recently gave birth to their second child. She must have been home with the babies because Boris and Gabrielle were all hugged up taking pictures everywhere. Now maybe they are just friends, but when you are married, this is not a good look. It’s about respect…..respect your wife!

Whitney and Ray J! Aaaaaauuuuuggghhh!! I’m sick of these two already. Forget the fact that she’s 17 years older than him. He is an opportunist. Next week, his sex tape with Kim Kardashian is coming out. Word has it he filmed and sold the tape for $1 million. Ray J proves he’s more than Brandy’s little brother. In one scene that was too hot for the video, he performed water sports on Kim, ala R Kelly. Against the advice of her drug counselors, Whitney spent the weekend in Las Vegas with Ray J. She appeared agitated and pushed him around all night. Whitney needs a man, not someone looking for publicity. As for hubby Bobby Brown, he was spotting making out with a mystery woman in California.

This Sunday will be one of the most diverse Oscar nights in history with Dreamgirls looking at more gold. Both Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy were nominated for the roles that have been winning them awards all season. Dreamgirls leads the pack with a total of eight nominations, including Costume Designer Sharon Davis. Her work is great. Plus, Beyonce will be performing at the Oscars along with Dreamgirls Anoki Noni Rose and Jennifer Hudson. Forest Whitaker and Philly’s own Will Smith are both up for Best Actor, Smith for The Pursuit of Happyness and Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland. Djimon Hounsou from Blood Diamond is up for Supporting Actor along with Eddie Murphy. The Academy Awards air this Sunday on ABC with Host Ellen DeGeneres.

Is Usher about to get married? Against his mother’s wishes, he is moving full speed ahead with his older woman. Tameka Foster is a divorced mother of three, and she used to be his stylist. Foster left her husband to be with Usher. Usher appears happy with Foster, and word has it he wants to marry her.

Eddie Murphy and Mel B! Murphy continues to claim her baby isn’t his. Mel B is six months pregnant, and she looks terrible. The baby and stress are taking a toll on her. Murphy wants a DNA test to determine if he is the daddy. Last year, Murphy was dating the former Spice Girl. When he found out she was pregnant, he dumped her. If Murphy is the daddy, Mel B won’t have to worry about looking bad because ol’ girl is going to get paid! Nicole Murphy, Eddie’s ex-wife, has weighed in on the situation. Nicole was married to Eddie for 13 years, and she gave him five children. Nicole says the Mel B situation is strange. But, if she is carrying Eddie’s baby, the kid will be beautiful. Nicole also gives big thumbs up to Eddie’s current girlfriend, Producer Tracey Edmonds. Nicole says they look good together.

Beyonce has made history as the first female singer to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit edition, but a lot of readers are not happy about it. Many subscribers want to cancel their subscriptions. They feel the magazine is not living up to its sports reputation by using a singer.

Jamie Foxx is being sued by a former stylist. The stylist claims she is being stiffed out of money for work she did on Jamie for the promo leg of Miami Vice and The BET Awards.

Get ready for the Milli Vanilli movie. In 1990, the German duo took the music world by storm with their smash Girl You Know It’s True. They went on to win a Grammy award for best new artist. Then the truth came out: Rob and Fabrice were fake. They couldn’t sing a lick. Studio singers did the singing on the Milli Vanilli songs. In 1998, Rob Pilates died of a drug overdose. Fabrice is still doing behind the scenes work in the music industry. A movie is being planned based on this real life music scandal.

Singer Jill Scott will be teaming up with Director Tyler Perry for his next two movies: Why Did I Get Married and Jazzman Blues. I had a chance to talk to Tyler Perry last week. He says starting next year he’ll be releasing two movies a year. He also said “Madea” will be back in a couple of years. Perry’s latest film, Daddy’s Little Girls, did not feature his popular “Madea” character, and the box office numbers fell short of expectations. Daddy’s Little Girls is an excellent movie with an all-star cast: Gabrielle Union, Idris Elba, Louis Gossett, Jr., Tracee Ellis Ross and Tasha Smith. So far at press time, the movie has taken in close to $20 million at the box office. Perry’s last film with his “Madea” character, Madea’s Family Reunion, took in $30 million its first weekend.

American Idol Judge Paula Abdul is going on the offensive. She’s tired of people thinking she’s drunk or high while on the show. Abdul, 44, says she’s never been drunk nor does she take illegal drugs. At times, she is whacked out of her mind. Maybe it’s prescription drugs.

Diana Ross would like her daughter Tracee Ellis Ross to portray the Legendary Entertainer Lena Horne on the big screen. Ross is best known for her Oscar nominated performance as Billie Holiday, and she feels her daughter would be the perfect choice to play Lena Horne.

Tracy Morgan has pleaded guilty to a recent drunk driving charge. Morgan was arrested last year for driving under the influence. His license has been suspended for six months. He will also have to pay a $1,000 fine and enter an alcohol treatment program.

Queen Latifah will be producing a show for BET and VH1 called Wifey. The show will be about high powered women in the world of Hip Hop. Latifah’s HBO movie, Life Support, debuts on March 10th. Latifah is playing an HIV positive woman who dedicates her life to helping others. Jamie Foxx and Evan Ross co-star.

Toni Braxton has reached a settlement with her former manager, Barry Hankerson. Braxton will have to repay him $375 thousand to get out a recording contract with Hankerson’s label. Hankerson, who used to be married to Gladys Knight, says he is glad to be rid of Braxton. He claims her husband was always interfering with her business deals, and that’s why her last albums have been flops. Braxton is married to Kerri Lewis of Mint Condition. Over the weekend, Braxton performed at the NBA All-Star Game, and had a lot fans upset with her mumbling. It seems as though she no longer sings. She just mumbles when she performs.

Producer/Director Lee Daniels is hard at work with Singer Mariah Carey. They are currently filming the movie Tennessee. Carey will play a waitress.

Martin Lawrence is not making fans during the promo tour of his new movie Wild Hogs. Sources say his demands are outrageous, and he travels with a huge entourage. The other stars of the movie, John Travolta, Tim Allen and William H. Macy, just laugh in amusem*nt at Lawrence’s star treatment. Wild Hogs opens in theatres on March 2nd.

The strain is beginning to show in the relationship between Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri. Ever since her album flopped, Janet has not been happy. Dupri is gearing up for his new job as the head of Island/Def Jam, but can he salvage his relationship with Janet? At a recent party, Janet appeared agitated and annoyed at a party hosted by Dupri.

Cancel that Michael Jackson order on American Idol. It appears the King of Pop will not be making a surprise appearance on the show, but producers are promising a major surprise this season.
It was rumored that Jackson would be given a special Idol week and a chance to mentor the Idol hopefuls.

Scratch out Fantasia coming to Broadway. Oprah Winfrey wanted Fantasia to join her Broadway musical, and give the show a much needed shot in the arm. But, Fantasia will not be joining the show. The show has seen a slump in ticket sales since Tony Winner La Chanze left the show. La Chanze played “Miss Celie.” La Chanze’s role will now go to her understudy Kenita Miller.

Jennifer Hudson has made history as the first African American singer to grace the cover of Vogue magazine. Last week, I listed other notable African American women, including Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry and Beverly Williams. Another famous model who graced the cover was Peggy Dilliard Toone. A special thanks to our readers for pointing that out.

When are black celebrities going to learn it’s not cool to support racist, over-hyped celebrities such as Paris Hilton? This no talent media queen is known for her use of the N-Word and the F-Word, but every week there is a different black celebrity hugging her up. Can they please stop giving this girl a free pass? She doesn’t like you!

Upcoming Movies:

March 2nd- Wild Hogs- John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and Tim Allen.

March 16th- I Think I Love My Wife- Chris Rock, Gina Torres and Kerry Washington.

March 23rd - Pride – Terrence Howard and Bernie Mac.

April 6th- Are We Done Yet? Ice Cube and Nia Long.

I was thinking the same thing.

Nick Cannon getting married: Is it me, or she looks too pretty to be with him? They just seemed like a odd couple.

The DZ story: All I could think about in that story was the book Pledged.

I can't wait to see "Why did I get married" on the big screen. I loved the play.

I'm surprised to hear that Musiq Soulchild is not doing good performances anymore. I've seen him about 3 or 4 times and he was great each time.

When is Mel B supposed to have this baby? Seems like she's been pregnant a while.

SF's AsianWeek newspaper is widely criticized for publishing a piece titled "Why I Hate Blacks."

Asian paper's 'I Hate Blacks' column assailed
Leslie Fulbright, Chronicle Staff Writer

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

A San Francisco weekly newspaper that bills itself as "The Voice of Asian America" is facing harsh criticism from that very community for publishing a column Friday titled "Why I Hate Blacks."

In the column, AsianWeek regular contributor Kenneth Eng listed "reasons" to discriminate against African Americans. The piece has been pulled from the newspaper's Web site, but the print edition of the free paper, owned by the politically influential Fang family, was still available in news racks Monday.

Eng called himself an "Asian supremacist" in January in another installment of the column, which runs under the label "God of the Universe."

Prominent Asian Americans immediately condemned Eng's current column.

"The hate is based on ignorance and is very similar to the rationales that the KKK uses against African Americans," said Henry Der, director for 22 years of Chinese for Affirmative Action and the former state administrator for Emeryville's schools.

"What gives me the greatest concern was AsianWeek's judgment in printing such a piece out of context," Der said. "It is so trite and hateful, it doesn't speak well for the publication."

San Francisco NAACP President Amos Brown, who heard about the column from a Chronicle reporter, was speechless at first.

"I can't believe this," Brown then said. "I am surprised the Fangs, who have supposedly been involved in interracial-understanding issues, would publish something like this. I am flabbergasted. We can't afford for these kind of racist flames to be fueled in that kind of setting."

AsianWeek issued a statement regretting "any offense caused by the one opinion piece," and Editor in Chief Samson Wong declined further comment.

Editor at large Ted Fang did not return phone calls seeking comment. Members of his family, who are Chinese American, have owned a number of local publications, including AsianWeek and the Independent. They bought the Examiner in 2000 and sold it in 2004.

Ted Fang's brother James, who is president of the paper, has spent more than a decade on the BART Board of Directors and previously worked as international trade director for former San Francisco Mayor Frank Jordan.

Eng's "reasons" for hating black people include:

-- "Blacks hate us. Every Asian who has ever come across them knows that they take almost every opportunity to hurl racist remarks at us."

-- "Contrary to media depictions, I would argue that blacks are weak-willed. They are the only race that has been enslaved for 300 years."

-- "Blacks are easy to coerce. This is proven by the fact that so many of them, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, tend to be Christians."

Eng, who is in his early 20s, according to material on the Internet promoting his science fiction writing, started at AsianWeek in November after moving from the East Coast. In 2004, for an online magazine called Down in the Dirt, he wrote about experiencing racism as an Asian American student at New York University after he "expressed my negative views on America, religion and African Americans."

Other AsianWeek columns of Eng's -- including "Proof That Whites Inherently Hate Us" and "Why I Hate Asians" -- have resulted in criticism. In the first, he complained about the scarcity of Asian heroes in the media. In the second, he described Asian Americans as apathetic, brown-nosing and lacking in cultural pride.

Eng could not be reached for comment Monday.

Leaders of the Asian Law Caucus, Asian American Justice Center, Chinese for Affirmative Action and other groups and individuals began circulating a petition Friday calling for the paper to apologize, terminate its relationship with Eng, print an editorial refuting the column and review its editorial policy. The leaders' statement, issued in Washington, D.C., called the piece "irresponsible journalism, blatantly racist, replete with stereotypes and deeply hurtful to African Americans."

In its statement, AsianWeek, which has a circulation of 48,505, said it "sincerely regrets any offense caused by the one opinion piece which reflected that author's personal views. We apologize for any harm or hurt this has caused the African American community. AsianWeek has great respect for all that the African American community has done for Asian Pacific Americans."

David Lee of the Chinese American Voters Education Committee said Eng's statement echoes the feelings of some Asian Americans. He said that rather than condemning the paper, black and Asian people should participate in a town hall-style meeting to address tension he said exists between the two communities.

"There is a segment that feels the way Eng does, but the sentiment is underground and not brought to the surface," Lee said. "If you don't have a discussion, then I think it allows these types of views to fester and turn into something much more negative. Rather than refute and bury this, we should be calling for a community dialogue to address this."

The paper said it will announce in this Friday's edition plans to co-sponsor a town hall-style meeting with the Willie L. Brown Jr. Institute on Politics & Public Service.

"What this controversy points out is the lack of community leadership in addressing the critical and difficult issues of race relations, particularly between Asian Pacific Americans and African Americans," the paper's statement said.

San Francisco writer Claire Light, one of several bloggers who wrote about the column over the weekend, said the newspaper in general -- and especially Eng's column -- makes her embarrassed to be Asian. She said that "most Asian Americans have never even heard of AsianWeek, much less agree with its editorial decision making."

Der said the column was offensive not only to African Americans but to everyone -- and especially because it was published during Black History Month.

"It is pretty despicable that the piece would do that at this time," he said. "If we are to talk about race and issues, then there should be a thoughtful presentation of the diverse views on this topic. If they had done that, however offensive, we would at least understand it in the context in the larger community."

Ling-chi Wang, retired chairman of the ethnic studies department at UC Berkeley, said there is an urgent need for Asian Americans to be aware of the history of this country and know that Asian American gains have come largely as a result of the efforts of black people.

"Personal experiences cannot be generalized," Wang said. "It is really sad to see the racism sentiment being expressed so publicly. I can't believe Ted Fang would allow such a column to go to print. It is really offensive and damaging and is not one that contributes to a better understanding of diversity.

"I was very disappointed to see it published, and I'm glad there are people protesting."

New Orleans the Site of New Disney Film
Thursday March 8 4:59 PM ET

The Walt Disney (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc&cf=gen&id=1800012351) Co. has started production on an animated musical fairy tale called "The Frog Princess," which will be set in New Orleans and feature the Walt Disney Studio's first black princess.

The company unveiled the plans Thursday at its annual shareholders' meeting in New Orleans.

John Lasseter (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc&cf=gen&id=1800019798), chief creative officer for Disney and the Disney-owned unit Pixar Animation Studios, said the movie would return to the classic hand-drawn animation process, instead of using computer animation that has become the industry standard. He called the film "an American fairy tale."

That's funny. Disney was supposed to be located in New Orleans, when Walt had the idea to open his theme park. But, because of LAs known back door wheelings and dealings, Disney opted out and took his venture to Florida. Many years later, the same BS goes on.

I know I have been slacking lately. Getting caught up with Patty now. Hopefully with BV Buzz sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of February 26th, 2007

Eddie Murphy has a new title: SORE LOSER! Murphy lost the Best Supporting Actor to Alan Arkin. Murphy was the front runner and favorite to win, but his face was cracked on Oscar night. Murphy was stunned. He was sure he was going to win. He had a beautiful lady on his arm (Tracey Edmonds), and his role in Dreamgirls as “James ‘Thunder’ Early” was the best of his career. What went wrong you ask? First up: Karma. Karma is real, and when you do wrong it comes back at you. Former Spice Girl Mel B was dating Murphy last year. At first, they were hot and heavy. Then Mel got pregnant, and Murphy publicly dumped her. Mel B is due this spring, and her baby will have to undergo a DNA test to prove Murphy is the dad. Number Two: Norbit the movie made millions, but it was critically panned. Friends believe Murphy should have released the offensive movie later this year. Number Three: Murphy’s arrogance after winning the Golden Globe and Screen Actor’s Guild awards. He gave horrible acceptance speeches. At an Oscar function, Murphy left early. This was seen as a sign of disrespect. He was also unwilling to do the talk show circuit. Murphy has a huge ego and many felt it got in the way. I can’t imagine losing the award wasn’t a humbling experience for him, but you would never know it. At the Oscars, when he realized he lost, Murphy got up and walked out. His date Tracey Edmonds didn’t know what to do, so she hurried out with him. Needless to say this ruined her big night. She’s looking to advance her film career, and Eddie’s losing this award hurt.

Why did Vogue Fashionista Andre Leon Talley ruin the biggest night of Jennifer Hudson career. Hudson won an Oscar for her role as “Effie White” in Dreamgirls, but she also made every worst dressed list wearing an outfit that made her look like an outcast from Star Trek. Hudson did not want to wear the Oscar De La Renta gown with that metallic jacket. She wanted to wear a Roberto Cavelli dress, but Talley insisted on his choice. Talley had a major meltdown and made her wear his outfit. Hudson is Vogue’s latest cover girl and they were sponsoring her for the Oscars. Usually Talley is on point, but he made a major mistake with this fashion choice. Hudson is going to have to learn to be more assertive. Talley made her look like a fool on the biggest night of her career.

When is W hitney Houston going to stop the madness with D-List Entertainer Ray J? She has gone against the advice of her drug counselors by pursuing a relationship with this child. It has been very frustrating for Whitney. Ray J loves to party and hang out in clubs, but, as Whitney continues her drug recovery, she can’t go into these places. Ray J is a publicity hound, and he is currently hanging out with Rapper Lil’ Kim. Ray-J also has a sex tape coming out, and he can’t wait for the world to see it because he is tired of being known as Brandy’s little brother.

Every time Bobby Brown makes an honest effort to turn his life around, he gets arrested. At press time, Bobby was sitting in a Massachusetts jail trying to get money for unpaid child support. He owes $19 thousand, and he was arrested for failing to show up for a child support hearing. Unless he can come up with the money, he may be behind bars for a while. Bobby needs help. He doesn’t have a job. He wants to resume his career, maybe do another reality show or album.

What’s up with Jay-Z and Beyonce? In recent weeks, the two have been spending time apart. When they are together, they look strained. Is there trouble in paradise? When Beyonce showed up at the Academy Awards, she was with her dad. Well, Jay-Z and Beyonce are still together. Apparently, Jay-Z doesn’t like awards shows. When he is alone and away from the spotlight, he is very happy with Beyonce. This was very evident earlier this week at a private party they attended for Record Executive Kevin Liles. Jay-Z and Beyonce are still together, just quiet.

Janet Jackson will be starring in the new Tyler Perry movie, Why Did I Get Married? Jill Scott and Sharon Leal (Dreamgirls) will also star. Now that her recording career is in a slump, Janet wants to resume her acting career. Her last movie was 7 years ago in the Nutty Professor II. Janet is also considering joining her family for a music tour. The Jackson family, minus Janet, is broke and a proposal has been put on the table to get the family on the road for a tour. The tour would include Michael, Janet, Rebbie, Jackie, Jermaine, Randy, Marlon and Tito. Where’s Latoya? Oh that’s right, she can’t sing! (smile)! In other Janet news, where’s Jermaine Dupri? The Super Producer was not with his lady love Janet Jackson at all the pre-Oscars parties. Jackson attended the parties with her brothers Jackie and Jermaine. Are Jackson and Dupri still a couple? Ever since her last album flopped, the relationship has cooled. Dupri was the executive producer of that project, and he has been accused of taking Janet in the wrong direction.

DNA testing has been ordered from the body of James Brown and the 5-year who may be his son. The 5-year old son of Tomi Rae Hynie will have to undergo DNA testing to prove he is a legitimate heir to the James Brown estate. Hynie is said to be disgusted by this ruling. But, since she has lied in the past, the family doesn’t trust her. When Brown was alive, he was heartbroken to find out that the woman he thought he was married to was already married to someone else.

Actor Charles Dutton has been added to the cast of the ABC drama Suspect. Halle Berry’s ex, Michael Ealy, is also a part of the cast.

Filming has begun for the Bill Duke directed movie Cover. The movie, about men on the down low, stars Vivica A. Fox, Patti LaBelle, Leon, Clifton Powell, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Singer Mya.

Deelishis is speaking out! Deelishis, with the fabulous booty, was the winner of season two of Flavor of Love. The VH1 show made her a star, but she didn’t get the love she was promised. Deelishis admits she hasn’t heard from Flavor Flav since the show ended. He is now spending all of his time with his new baby momma. She says Flav lied to her. Deelishis has moved on. She is currently dating Rapper Busta Rhymes, and she is getting ready to embark on her acting career. She says she is going to do a project with Actress Angela Bassett.

Cameron Diaz and Tyrese? Hmmmmmmm! Justin Timberlake’s ex has moved on with Singer Tyrese. Yes, the same Tyrese who has a pregnant girlfriend that he keeps hidden. Yes, the same Tyrese who was running from the cops after getting into an altercation with his pregnant girlfriend. And yes, the same Tyrese who claims he loves black women but never dates them. Cameron Diaz was hurt by her breakup with Timberlake, but sources say Diaz is hanging out with black guys to get back at Timberlake, who wants to be a black guy. Check out Timberlake in his new movie, Black Snake Moan. He’s got a hot sex scene with Actress Christina Ricci.

He didn’t get an Oscar, but he’s a got a hot new job. Actor Djimon Hounsou, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the movie Blood Diamond, has been named the new spokesmodel for Calvin Klein underwear. Hounsou has a hot body. Remember him in the Janet Jackson video Love Will Never Do Without You? The new ads come out in the fall of 2007.

Who’s watching Justin? Justin Combs, the 12-year old son of Sean P-Diddy Combs and Stylist Misa Hylton Brym, was photographed getting lap dances from older women at a teen party. Needless to say the photos have found a home on the internet, and it has been very embarrassing for all involved. The older women involved should be ashamed of themselves. What would make an older woman give a lap dance to a 12-year old?!! Young Combs has a security detail, and they have been fired for letting this happen. According to his mom, she and Puffy are extremely embarrassed by this situation, and will monitor his activities closely.

After a lot of back and forth, Fantasia is coming to Broadway in The Color Purple after all. Since Singer/Actress La Chanze left the production, sales have dropped for the Broadway musical. Oprah knew she needed to do something special. After much negotiation, she got Fantasia to agree to join the production. Fantasia starts April 10th.

Terrence Howard and Supermodel Naomi Campbell? What an odd coupling. Howard and Campbell are both known for dating outside of their race. I’m wondering: what was the attraction? Campbell has a legendary temper, and Howard can be a trip too. Is this just a publicity stunt? Howard’s new movie, Pride, opens next month, and Campbell is looking to change her image. Let’s see how long this lasts. At the Philadelphia premiere of Pride, Howard showed up with his three children, ex-wife and mother-in-law. Pride opens in theatres on March 23rd. The movie also stars Bernie Mac, who revealed he may be retiring soon, and Evan Ross. Pride is about Philadelphia School Teacher Jim Ellis. Ellis led a group of African American kids to become swim champions in the 70’s. In other Naomi news, she’s about to get her own reality TV show on MTV. The show will feature Naomi looking for a personal assistant. How ironic is this since she spent years beating up her foreign assistants.

Sources close to Singer Usher are advising him to take it easy with his new love Tameka Foster. Usher mom can’t stand her, and the two women don’t get along. Foster is older than Usher. She was married with three kids when she was hired to be Usher’s stylist. Usher’s mom had to fire her when she felt she wasn’t doing her job. After she was fired, Usher kept her around and the two started a romance. Friends fear Tameka is pushing to play a bigger part in Usher’s life. She wants to be his wife as well as his manager, which leaves this question: where does that leave his mom, out in the cold? Usher has always been close to his mom. Is he going to let his new woman come between them?

The 1977 groundbreaking miniseries Roots is coming out on DVD. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, the Roots 4 disc boxed set is coming out on May 22nd.

Ving Rhames has been added to the cast of the ABC drama Football Wives. Gabrielle Union is also starring with a debut set for this fall.

Prince is taking a break from his longstanding Las Vegas gig to go on the road. Yes, Prince is going on tour, and he’s coming to a city near you.

Former basketball great Julius “Dr. J.” Erving has opened a golf club in Atlanta. The 27-hole facility has been voted by Golf Digest as one of the best new golf courses in the country. Erving retired from the NBA in 1986, and has become a very successful businessman.

Life after basketball hasn’t been so great for another basketball star. Scottie Pippen is so broke that he is willing to come out of retirement. Pippen is 41, and poor business decisions have left him in a serious financial mess.

American Idol is bringing out the stars this season. Diana Ross is slated to appear on March 14th, and Jennifer Lopez is coming to the show April 11th.

The 4th season of Dancing with the Stars is scheduled for March 19th on ABC. Boxer Laila Ali is taking a break from the sport to appear on the show. Former basketball great Clyde Drexler is also joining the show along with Joey Fatone, Billy Ray Cyrus, Leeza Gibbons and Heather Mills-McCartney.

This is certainly not the best of times for Singer Brandy. She is still facing the consequences and lawsuits stemming from the fatal car accident that she caused. Brandy just turned 28, and she really needed a shoulder to lean on. Brandy thought about an old love, basketball’s Quentin Richardson of the New York Knicks. They used to be engaged, but later broke up. They’re still friends, so Brandy decided to give him a call. Imagine her surprise when she found out that he had moved on to an older woman. Richardson has been spending time with Actress Regina King (Ray, Jerry Maguire, 227). King is no longer with her husband, and she has been spending time with the NBA hottie.

Actor Boris Kodjoe has a message for his fans: everything is fine between him and his wife Nicole Ari Parker. They are the parents of two toddlers. During the NBA All-Star festivities, Kodjoe raised eyebrows when he was spotted spending a lot of time with Actress Gabrielle Union. Kodjoe states he and Union are just good friends and were just hanging out. Kodjoe says he and his wife are happier than ever.

In other basketball news, what will be the future of the NBA All-Star game festivities? Have the groupies taken over? A couple of weeks ago, the party took place in Las Vegas and there were over 350 arrests and two shootings. Between the groupies and wanna be thugs, the city went wild. This is not the image that the NBA is looking to have. Next year, the All-Star game is taking place in New Orleans. Since Hurricane Katrina, the city has been leading the nation in violence. Will the NBA Officials be able to gain control over the festivities? Will the violence that took place in Las Vegas follow them to New Orleans?

Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of March 5th, 2007

Chris Rock says everything is alright in his household, and he loves his wife very much. Chris has a new movie, I Think I Love My Wife coming out on March 16th. As he makes the press rounds, he is being asked about his wife. For the past ten years, Rock has been married to Malaak Compton. She is the mother of his two young daughters. The marriage has seen its shares of ups and downs with cheating, paternity tests and models. Late last year, Chris filed for divorce and mysteriously withdrew the petition. Did Chris change his mind because a divorce could hurt his new movie? Rock responds: Heck no! Rock says marriage can be challenging, but he loves his wife. He says he no longer cheats because he is tried of getting caught. Rock says he and Malaak and their young family are very happy. He says he has no plans to break up his family.

The Jennifer Hudson Backlash has begun. Fame has two sides. One side loves you, and the other will burn you. The Oscar winner has made an enemy for life with Designer Andre Leon Talley. Talley took Hudson under his wing and gave her a new style. He even got her on the cover of Vogue magazine. Then came The Academy Awards and the hideous dress he encouraged her to wear. The next day, despite winning an Oscar, she was the butt of many jokes because of that outfit. Hudson revealed she didn’t want to wear it, but she caved into Talley’s pressure. Talley was livid. For years, he has been a leading Fashionista, and now he’s being labeled as a novice who gives bad fashion advice. Friends of Talley feel Hudson made a costly mistake by dissing Talley. Hudson is also feeling the heat from American Idol fans who want her to stop bashing the show and Judge Simon Cowell. Hudson lost the competition. In one episode, after giving a poor performance, Cowell told Hudson she was out of her league. In subsequent shows, he praised her and her talents. Fans of the show feel she is being an ingrate by trashing Cowell all the time.

In other Idol news, Cowell speaks about former contestants. He said they don’t respect the show, and he’s tired of it. He says if it weren’t for American Idol, no one would know who they were.

American Idol is the hottest show on TV but with its popularity comes controversy. Are Church Singers taking over the show? In a recent poll, people stated that the Church Singers were blowing away the weaker singers, and that Church Singers are taking the show serious because they realize they can use the show to launch their careers. Another Idol controversy is the one involving Antonella Barba. She is the Jersey girl who may or may not be the sex siren in a series of p*rnographic pictures. When the pictures came out, Barba denied it was her. The pictures are very racy. Producers didn’t press her on it, and she was allowed to stay in the competition. Wait a minute! WTH?!! A few years ago, Contestant Frenchie Davis was booted from the show because of topless photos she took over the internet. Why the double standard? Barba has a weak voice, and Davis had a powerful voice. Rosie O’Donnell from The View weighed in. She stated bluntly Davis was booted from the show because she was fat and black, and it’s unfair. What do you think? According to published reports, the other contestants want Barba off the show. She can’t sing so maybe it will happen soon.

Why is everyone dogging Tyra Banks about her weight? In several articles, she has been described as plus size. She’s 160 pounds! When did this become plus size?!! She looked stunning at the recent NAACP Image Awards, but the next day she was criticized. No wonder so many young girls have self esteem issues. I do not understand the cruelty thrown at her just because she gained weight since her modeling days. Tyra is on a roll. She’s in line for her third TV show. Hot on the heels of her talk show and America’s Next Top Model, Tyra has another show lined up. The Glamorous Life will focus on the losers of America’s Next Top Model and how they return to regular life.

There’s no word on what will happen with Brandy as she deals with her legal issues involving the accidental death of a young woman.

Despite winning an NAACP Image Award for his work on the ABC show Grey’s Anatomy, Actor Isiah Washington is still paying the price for his antics on the show. The gay slur he used against a castmate and the choking of another almost destroyed his career. A lot of the cast members have received huge raises, but word has it Washington is being denied his big payday. He will not get a raise. He is signed to a seven year contract, and he will get paid his original salary.

Singer Sammy Strain, of Little Anthony & The Imperials and formerly of The O’Jays, is suing his former singing partners Eddie Levert and Walter Williams for $15 million. Hounsou first came on the scene in the Janet Jackson video Love Will Never Do Without You. He later went on to star in the movies Amistad and Blood Diamond. Hounsou is hot right now. He just signed a deal to be the new spokesperson for Calvin Klein underwear, and he’s openly dating Russell’s wife. So what does Russell say about this? Russell says he hopes his wife is happy because Hounsou is a nice guy. He says he and his wife are good friends, and they remain business partners and parents to their daughters.

Hot on the heels of winning an Oscar for his work in The Last King of Scotland, Forest Whitaker’s first baby momma is trying to clown him. Forest has a 16-year old son by a former love Monique Miller. Miller claims she wants him back, despite the fact that he is currently married to someone else. In a recent interview, Miller described Whitaker as having a magic personality despite the fact that he was not the best looking man. She says he was slightly overweight with a lazy eye, but she was captivated. In school, she says he was weird and unsuccessful with girls. Miller says at first he was shy in the bedroom, but she showed him the ropes. She stated Whitaker was a quick learner who was romantic and then their relationship soured. She says it all came to an end when he became famous and started receiving attention from women. Spokespeople for Whitaker declined to comment, but they said he is happy with his current wife and children.

WHAT’S THE UNDERGROUND BUZZ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s handsome and one of the hottest Actors in Hollywood. His smooth looks and light eyes are breaking hearts all over town. When women meet him, he makes them feel like they are the one. But, the reality is he is married, and he is never leaving his wife.

When is it time to grow up? Maybe after you father 4 or 5 kids and you refuse to marry the baby momma. This hip hop mogul acts like a teenager who is out of control with non stop partying and drinking and ecstasy. Lately, he’s been getting into fights, and sources say it’s the drugs. Maybe he should stay home with his babies and chill out.

This young man became famous as a teenager. He had a hit TV show, and he tried his hand at rapping. He is starting to venture out in movies. His star is on the rise, and so are the groupies. He’s basically a nice guy, but he’s going to have to be careful because the women who are latching onto him are golddiggers.

Terrence actually lives with me. I'm helping him get past his ex...LOL

So, how old is Ron Isley? Newborn son? What did I miss? I didn't know he had a new lady.

A lot of these new relationships involve some craddle robbing. Robin Givens is at least 40 right? I think Tank is just barely 30. Regina King has got to be pushing 40 also and she's dating Brandy's ex? He's even younger than Brandy if I'm not mistaken. It's a good time to be a young, single guy.

Wow, I'm interested to see this. I taught a session at a Diversity Conference regarding Disney, diversity in movies, and images portrayed to all the little girls in the world.

Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of March 12th, 2007

Dreamgirls is coming out on DVD May 1st.

Last week, I talked about the Jennifer Hudson backlash, and this week it continues. Is the Dreamgirls star and Oscar winner turning into an ungrateful Diva? She’s got the awards. She’s got new teeth, new clothes, new wigs and a new attitude. Jennifer Hudson was the big honoree at this year’s Soul Train Awards. Hudson got the Entertainer of the Year Award, but she almost missed out because she tried not to show up. Hudson knew she was being honored. But, at the last minute, she decided she was tired and didn’t want to go. Her handlers tried to cancel the appearance, but Soul Train Creator Don Cornelius was not having it. He was livid. How dare she? She’s only been a star for a minute! Cornelius quickly called her boss, Record Mogul Clive Davis. Davis contacted Hudson and told her to get her a** on a plane immediately! He is working on her new album. Davis reminded her despite her Oscar, she is going to have to promote an album, and you don’t start out by dissing a legend such as Don Cornelius. Hudson showed up, collected her award and sang. John Legend has been brought in to help her with the project. Speaking of Jennifer, The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin says she would like Hudson to star in a movie based on Franklin’s life. Hudson says she would like her next movie project to be the life story of Jackie Robinson. Robert Redford is directing the movie about the first African American to break into baseball’s major leagues.

In other Soul Train news, a shocking number of winners failed to attend the awards show. No shows included Jamie Foxx, Beyonce, and Mary J. Blige, to name a few. Out of ten categories, only two winners were on hand to accept their award. Don Cornelius is a music legend. He feels it’s a total lack of respect for today’s stars to treat his show like it’s nothing. Is it a case of too many awards shows? After a while, they all start to blend in together. I think there are too many, but you have to remember your history. I feel bad for Cornelius. The show is often aired at horrible times and is never publicized, therefore you never know it’s on. The show went on as planned with Robin Thicke performing along with Omarion and Marques Houston. There were also big tributes to Producers Babyface and Jermaine Dupri, but the other major winners simply didn’t show up. Let me know what you think. E-mail me at Pattyj1053@aol.com

Star Jones-Reynolds is returning to TV in her own daytime show. Jones-Reynolds will be hosting a show on Court TV where she will go back to her roots of being a legal analyst. She will be both the host and anchor. The show will focus on the issues important in the world. Jones-Reynolds also unveiled a new look: glasses, shorter hair and outfits that show off her newly trimmed body.

The Godfather of Soul James Brown can finally rest in peace. After 76 days, his body has been laid to rest at a crypt in Beech Island, South Carolina. The Crypt is at the home of one of his daughters. The entire Brown Family, including companion Tomi Rae Hynie and 5-year old James Brown, Jr., gathered to pay their last respects. Despite challenges to The Brown Will, everyone was on their best behavior.

Singer Ron Isley and his young wife made quite a splash at the Soul Train Awards. Isley and his family are getting ready to hit the road for a tour. Despite his legal issues, Isley wants to see his fans. Last year, he was convicted of tax evasion and cashing his dead brothers checks. Isley is getting sentenced at the end of August. Despite his recent stroke and bouts with kidney cancer, he will be serving at least 37 months in jail. Isley is excited about the upcoming tour. He is the proud father of two infants. His first son was born less than three months ago. His entire family will be joining him on the road. Isley will be in the Philadelphia area in late April. Details are listed below in upcoming events.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell insists she’s a changed woman. She has turned her back on the days of drugs and outlandish behavior. No more lashing out at the foreign help. Campbell says since being sentenced to community work for beating up her maid, she wants to change people’s lives. Campbell is scheduled to do a sit down with Oprah Winfrey, but she is also looking to land her own TV gig.

Queen Latifah wants to be a mommy, and she has filed the necessary paper work to become a foster parent. The popular rapper and movie star says it’s time to fulfill her dream of motherhood. Later this year, Latifah teams up with John Travolta for the movie musical Hairspray.

Holly Robinson Peete, wife of retired NFL Quarterback Rodney Peete has joined the cast of the new ABC drama Football Wives. Gabrielle Union and Ving Rhames also star in the show about the lives of the wives of NFL athletes. Football Wives is set to debut this fall.

Flex Alexander is joining the cast of the ABC comedy Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office. Alexander is married to Singer Shanice. He used to star in the UPN show One on One.

Is a Vegas deal in the works for the Jackson Family? The family needs money. Will they be starring in a show on the Las Vegas strip? Michael Jackson is in danger of losing his Beatles catalog. Word has it it’s going to be sold in a liquidation sale next year. Michael and his brothers are broke. Will they take the bait and reunite for the money? I hear millions are at stake with a Vegas stand and possible world tour.

Producer Tracey Edmonds is defending her man. Now that awards season is over, Eddie Murphy will go back to being a recluse, but Tracey still wants the spotlight. When she was married to Babyface, Tracey experienced fame. But, with Eddie Murphy, it was on another level and she loved it. She’s got a lot of projects going on with the BET network, and she’s enjoying the exposure and magazine covers. In a recent interview, Tracey was asked about Eddie and his friendship with Singer Johnny Gill. Tracey stated Eddie is not gay, and he and Johnny have been friends for 20 years. She says it’s a shame people have misconstrued their relationship. She says the DL rumors are garbage. Tracey also talks about Mel B, the former Spice Girl who says she is carrying Eddie’s baby. According to Tracey, Eddie will be responsible and do his part if the DNA tests prove that he is the father. Mel B recently had her baby shower in Beverly Hills surrounded by family and friends.

In other Eddie Murphy news, he is teaming up with Comedian/Actor Katt Williams for the movie Marshals. Eddie is producing, and Katt Williams is writing the script about the first black US Marshals. Williams is on a roll. He will be teaming up with HBO for a sequel to his popular Pimp Chronicles comedy show.

At the movies, its Chris Rock and Kerry Washington in I think I Love My Wife. Chris directed the comedy, and he says this is his first grown-up role. Gina Torres plays Rock’s wife in the movie. In real life, she is married to Actor Laurence Fishburne.

Years ago, when K-Ci Hailey of Jodeci fame dated Mary J. Blige, he put her through hell. K-Ci and Mary had a stormy relationship. Now years later, he wants to apologize to Mary for all he put her through. K-Ci recently recorded and filmed a video for his song, I Apologize. The video even has a Mary J. Blige look-a-like.

Singer Joss Stone is reportedly dating Singer/Songwriter/Producer Raphael Saadiq. Saadiq is best known from the group Tony Tone Tone. She’s 19. He’s 41, and for the first time has been publicly linked to a woman.

Young singing sensation Omarion teams up with Usher for the remix of his new song Icebox.

Rosie O’Donnell will be doing one more year with The View. Since her arrival, The View has turned into the talk of the town with her infamous feuds ranging from her boss, Barbara Walters, to Mogul Donald Trump. O’Donnell will be leaving the show next year to host her own daytime talker. It will probably be a rough year for The View. O’Donnell loves a good feud and word has it she doesn’t like Bill Geddie, the show’s executive producer. Also, the show has yet to find a minority replacement for Star Jones-Reynolds. Will this position ever be filled?

Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila Ali is gearing up for the new season of Dancing with the Stars. Ali is also planning her summer wedding to football star Curtis Conway. Last season’s Dancing with the Stars winner, Football Great Emmitt Smith, has landed a new job. He’s going to be a color analyst for ESPN.

The complaints about Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa are growing louder. Is the school too strict? Some of the parents of the girls are upset and are speaking out. They feel the girls are treated like inmates in jail. The girls are not allowed to eat candy. They can only eat Oprah approved meals such as fruit, yogurt and sandwiches. The parents are also upset that they can only see their daughters once a month. Oprah says her school is safe, not strict.

R Kelly, Diane Warren and Writer/Producer Johnta Austin have come on board to help Whitney Houston with her latest release. Houston is currently working with a vocal coach. Friends fear years of drug abuse and smoking may have ruined her voice.

Now speaking of R Kelly, his new album DoubleUp is coming out in late May. And a DVD set of his epic series Trapped in the Closet is coming out July 11th.

Has American Idol reached its peak? Every week, the popular Fox show has a new controversy. Singer Mario Vasquez from the 2005 season is being sued. Vasquez was a popular contestant who made it into the final 12. Then, he suddenly left the show. Vasquez cited family reasons, and he insisted he would pursue a music career. Well, now the truth is coming out about why he left the show. A former male employee on the set of American Idol is suing Vasquez for sexual harassment. The male employee claims Vasquez would corner him then proceed to fondle himself. He also offered his sexual services. This season, Jersey Girl Antonella Barba made headlines when intimate photos of her in various sex poses became public. In the beginning, Idol producers lied about it claiming it wasn’t her. Well, it turns out Barba was the girl in the photos. Every year there is a scandal of some sort. More people talk about the scandals then the singing. If it’s not the contestants, then it’s the antics of Idol Judge Paula Abdul, who may or may not be under the influence.

The long awaited autobiography of Rick James is coming out next month. Memoirs of A Superfreak arrives in stores April 15th. The popular singer/musician died two years ago. He often made headlines for his wild behavior, but he was a brilliant musician.

Singer Teddy Pendergrass is gearing up for a big music event at the Kimmel Center in June.

I woke up to this sad news this morning. I love G.E. Patterson. I watched him religiously on BET at 7:30a and on the Word network at 3:30p. :(

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - G.E. Patterson, the presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ and a minister for almost 50 years, died of heart failure Tuesday, the church announced. He was 67.

The predominantly black Protestant denomination, headquartered in Memphis, claims 6 million members worldwide and traces its origins to the to the late 1800s.

Patterson was hospitalized in January for an undisclosed illness and told his followers in 2005 that he had prostate cancer.

At the church’s annual Holy Convocation in November, he said he had considered stepping down but changed his mind after an outpouring of support.

I saw that last night on Yahoo News. I was really sad to hear this too. I would watch his show with my grandmother after church and Sunday dinner. She was shocked when I told her that he passed away. RIP Rev. Patterson. :(

I'm saddened to hear of Rev. Patterson's passing. I've watched their church services for about 2 years on the local cable affiliate, and had respect for his preaching of The Word.

Condolences to the Patterson family.

...may God welcome Rev. Patterson home.

As a member of the COGIC denomination, I know that Bishop Patterson will be missed. He came to our church a few years ago as my pastor was being installed as a Jurisdictional Bishop and he was a very humble man. I also loved watching the broadcasts from his church and loved to hear him sing the "old" gospel songs.

The responses to my question about The Soul Train Awards were overwhelming. Thanks to all who commented. I appreciate the emails. The majority of our readers feel that today’s artists showed a total lack of respect for the show by not showing up to receive their awards. Obviously, they have no knowledge of the history of the Soul Train TV show. Many readers felt the show needs an overhaul. They feel the show should be shown at better times and promoted more. Some readers believe Don Cornelius should repackage old shows and make them available on DVD. By making old shows available, it could spark interest or better yet serve a history tool with the many music greats that have appeared on the show. A lot of suggestions came up, including getting a new host and getting better musical acts. I think this is long overdue, but it's time for the train to make its last stop.

Is Michael Jackson ready to sell his Beatles catalog? Sources say he has been in contact with ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. Years ago, Jackson and McCartney were close friends. Remember their songs Say, Say, Say and The Girl Is Mine. In 1985, Jackson outbid McCartney for the Beatles’ catalog, and it ruined their friendship. Jackson needs money, and he could get it if he sells the catalog of music, which has over 200 songs.

Is Oprah’s best friend Gayle King dating Newark, New Jersey Mayor Corey Booker? Sources say sparks flew after King interviewed him for an O magazine profile. King is 52, and the Mayor …..he’s 37.

Speaking of Oprah, she has opened her second school in South Africa. The Environmentally Friendly Academy was funded by Winfrey’s Angel Network. The school teaches boys and girls. Winfrey says she wants the school to be a model for public education.

Singer Luther Ingram has died. Ingram, 69, has been battling kidney problems for years. He is best known for the 1973 hit, If Living You Is Wrong (I Don’t Want To Be Right).

Martin Lawrence will be teaming up with Raven Symone for the father/daughter Walt Disney comedy College Road Trip. Raven plays a college bound high school senior checking out potential universities with her father, an overprotective police officer.

Singer/Actress Vanessa Williams is on a roll. The former beauty queen recently turned 44, and she just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Williams is currently starring in the ABC show Ugly Betty and the new movie My Brother. In the movie, Williams plays the mother of two boys, one with Down Syndrome. Later this year, she teams up with Eartha Kitt for the movie Then Came Love, about a journalist who has a child through artificial insemination. Take that, Miss America!!:p

Music Mogul Clive Davis is hard at work helping Whitney Houston with her comeback album. Davis wants Whitney to have an amazing comeback, and he is not pleased with her latest choice in men, 26-year old Singer Ray J. Yes, Brandy’s little brother. Davis feels Ray J is a distraction for the Pop Diva and not a good choice. Ray J’s sex tape with Kim Kardashian has been released, and he has just been offered a four picture deal to direct p*rn movies. Davis does not want this kind of influence around Whitney. He wants her drug free with no scandals. He felt he was making headway getting her away from Bobby Brown, but Ray J could prove to be a bigger leach than Bobby ever was.

Queen Latifah’s new movie/musical Hairspray, with John Travolta, opens in theatres on July 20th.

Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson says she is no Diva! Hudson is responding to reports that she has become difficult to deal with since her sudden success. Hudson says this is nonsense, and she meant no harm or disrespect to American Idol in recent interviews. She says is still learning and dealing with her success. She is in the process of getting new management. She is currently in the studio working on a new album, and she hopes to team up with her idol, Whitney Houston.

Actress Sanaa Lathan has a new love, and he’s a football player. Wale Ogunleye is a defensive end for the Chicago Bears.

Tamia and her husband Grant Hill are expecting baby number two.

Is former Dancing With The Stars contestant Mario Lopez moving to The Price Is Right? The 33-year old is contemplating a $10 million deal to take over the reigns from longtime Host Bob Barker. Barker is retiring after 35 years as host of the show. I can not see AC Slater hosting TPIR and guiding people to the Plinko board. It this is going to be the case, they just need to cancel the show. Where are you, RM, expert of the game shows?

Wanna date Bobby Brown? This is the premise for his new reality show. 20 women from the classy to the trashy will compete to date Brown. No word yet on what network will pick up the show, but the women will have to know how to dirty dance and cook. FLAV. HAS. THIS. COVERED. THANK. YOU.

The reality TV show bug has also hit Jermaine Jackson. Jackson’s show will feature kids competing for a chance to appear in a musical based on the lives of The Jackson Five.

Producer Dallas Austin is spilling the beans about some of the music industry’s top stars. Austin is an award-winning producer who has worked with Boyz II Men, TLC and Toni Braxton, to name a few. Last year, Austin made headlines when he was accused of trying to smuggle drugs into an Arab country. Austin was pardoned and returned to the U.S. Austin is apparently frustrated with his career because in a recent interview he went wild trashing Singers Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera. He claims the two singers sleep with their producers to get their music. Stone, 19, is currently dating 41-year old Singer/Producer Raphael Saadiq. She used to date Lamont Dozier son’s Beau Dozier. Austin used to date both Stone and Aguilera. Word has it they both dumped him. Is he complaining because they didn’t want him?

Did Deion Sanders steal his children’s money? The former football great has been accused by his ex-wife of stealing money from their children’s trust fund. Close to $2 million has been taken. Sanders recently purchased a $10 million mansion, and sources say he used to money to get window treatments for his new house.

Stevie Wonder is being sued by a former employee at a radio station he owns in Los Angeles. The man claims several employees are taking money to get records played, and that Wonder is known for fooling around with the women at the station. Wonder is married to Fashion Designer Kai Miller. Reps for Wonder say he is upset by the lawsuit claiming the worker is disgruntled because he was fired from the station.

Mo’Nique’s new VH1 show, Charm School, debuts on the network April 15th. Mo’Nique will be teaching charm lessons to the castoffs of The Flavor of Love show. Mo’Nique will also be hosting a gala for Teddy Pendergrass. On June 10th, it’s a tribute to Teddy Pendergrass at the Kimmel Center. Patti LaBelle, Ruben Studdard, and Stephanie Mills are scheduled to perform. 25 years ago, Pendergrass suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury. Over the years, he founded The Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, a non-profit organization that helps others with spinal cord injuries rebuild their lives.

Oscar Winner Halle Berry is gearing up for a busy month of April. Her new movie, Perfect Stranger with Bruce Willis, opens in theatres on the 13th, and she’s getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There’s also talk she could be getting engaged to Model Gabriel Aubrey. Later this year, Berry re-teams with her Monsters’ Ball co-star Billy Bob Thornton for the movie Tulia. Tulia is about racial strife in a small Texas town.I think Patty missed the memo that Halle just said this week that she doesn't plan to get married again.

Are wedding Bells in the air for Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri? Pregnancy rumors have been surrounding the pop star, and Dupri is ready to settle down. Janet is currently filming the new Tyler Perry movie Why Did I Get Married with Jill Scott and Malik Yoba.

At the movies, it’s Pride with Terrence Howard, Bernie Mac, Tom Arnold and Evan Ross. The story is based on Philadelphia Teacher Jim Ellis, who led a team of championship swimmers in the 70’s. Check out Terrence on the latest edition of Essence magazine. Even though he has tried to date top Hollywood stars (Halle Berry, Gabrielle Union), he claims his one true love is his wife.

Adam Sandler teams up with Don Cheadle in the movie Reign Over Me. Jada Pinkett Smith co-stars.

Singer Michael Henderson returns to Philly in April with Jean Carne at North By Northwest, 7165 Germantown Avenue.

Comedian/Actor Sinbad is alive and well. Last week, Sinbad was the victim of a cruel internet hoax, which claimed he died from a heart attack. Sinbad is currently touring the country with his comedy show.

WHAT’S THE UNDERGROUND BUZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

She is a beautiful Producer. She used to be married to a Famous Singer/Producer. After they divorced, she started dating a Movie Star. The Movie Star was known for being a recluse and difficult, but he was very famous and she knew dating him would get her media attention. The past few weeks have been rough for the Movie Star, and now he refuses to be seen in public. She has defended his behavior, and put up with his peculiar habits. At the moment, she is bored with him. She likes being seen and going to parties. Friends have suggested maybe she should get back with her ex-husband, but he has already moved on with a woman who looks just like her…. only younger. Tracy Edmonds
